Imelda Quirke, a backing singer in Alan Parker's The Commitments, was her breakthrough role in 1991. Ian La Frenais and Dick Clement produced the short-lived television series Over the Rainbow in 1993, which she also wrote the music. In 1994, she appeared in My Girl 2, where she performed a version of Charlie Chaplin's "Smile." She appeared on Alan Parker's album in 1996 as she sang backing vocals for the Evita soundtrack.
