Ava Hessington appeared in several episodes of USA Network's Suits (2013), as well as as terrorist Margot Al-Harazi, a key antagonist in 24: Live Another Day (2014).

Early life

Fairley was born in Coleraine to parents Brian and Teresa Fairley, the second eldest of six children. During the Troubles in Northern Ireland, her father, Fairley's Bar, and several off-licences, but Fairley recalls both Catholics and Protestants frequenting the bar.

Personal life

Fairley has been based in London since 1986 and has a low public profile. In an interview with The Telegraph in 2015, she said she made the decision to divorce from her boyfriend of seven years in 2012. Fairley hasn't had no known suppliers since then. Fairley said in the same interview that she "missed the gene" for motherhood. She never had the desire to have children like some of her siblings.

Fairley has worked on various American projects in the past, she has no passion for Hollywood, and the West End theatres are still her home. Television and movies challenge her in a new way, making her "use a different muscle," she said, but theatre is where she feels her best work is done, where she began her career, and where she hopes to "end up."

Fairley appeared in a number of British television shows, including The Bill, Holby City, and Casualty. In the episode "The Way Through The Woods" by Cathy Michaels of ITV1's Inspector Morse, as Susan Phelan in Lovejoy, Cathy Michaels of episode 9 of Season 3 titled "Smoke Your Nose."

In the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows films, she played Mrs. Granger (who had appeared in Chamber of Secrets). Fairley played Catelyn Stark (née Tully) in the first three seasons of HBO's Game of Thrones, replacing Jennifer Ehle who appeared in the original pilot episode.

Fairley appeared in the cast of Suits for its third season, including Ava Hessington's recurring role. In 24: Live Another Day on Fox, she appeared as Margot Al-Harazi. The Invisible Woman (2013) and In the Heart of the Sea (2015) were among her film roles.

Fairley will appear in a revival of Jim Cartwright's play Road at the Royal Court Theatre in 2017. In 2018, she appeared in Cassius Caesar at the Bridge Theatre with David Calder, David Morrissey, and Ben Whishaw. Fairley was a contributor to the Virgin Media and Amazon Prime Science Fiction series The Feed, as Meredith Hatfield. Fairley's assassination drama Gangs of London stars Marian Wallace as of June 2020. Millie appeared in the 2021 film Nobody Has To Know starring Bouli Lanners.
