Life and career
Robinson was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida. She graduated from William M. Raines High School in Jacksonville and Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, Florida. She captured Miss Florida A&M University's crown while attending college. She began acting on Broadway and Off-Broadway productions in New York City in 1992 and began her career on the stage. She appeared in The Color Purple on Broadway and then appeared in the national touring revival. Robinson appeared on Dreamgirls and The Wizard of Oz national tours. On television, she appeared in the episode "Conversity" of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit in 2005.
