Andy McCluskey Life

George Andrew McCluskey (born 24 June 1959) is an English singer, songwriter, guitarist, and record producer.

He is best known as co-founder, lead singer, and bass guitarist of Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD). In addition, McCluskey created Atomic Kitten, for whom he served as a principal songwriter, and has performed with a number of well-known artists.

McCluskey, who has been dubbed a "electro pioneer," is a Ivor Novello Award-nominated songwriter whose songs have dominated charts in the United Kingdom and internationally.

Personal life

James (1924–2003), McCluskey's father, was born in Glasgow and worked as a railway servant.

Julia Kneale, an Id bandmate, was McCluskey's girlfriend in the late 1970s. She penned "Julia's Song," which appeared on OMD's eponymous debut album (1980).

McCluskey later married Toni, with whom he had two children. OMD's biggest explanation for OMD's change was that his children had never seen him on stage; he said, "I was excited to stop working to be with the kids," but oddly enough, they were the most vocal in encouraging me back."

Toni and the children were divorced in 2011 and Toni returned to San Diego, California, with the family. Their son, James McCluskey, is a founding member, bass player, and backing vocalist of the MiG 15, named after the fighter jet of the same name.

Liverpool F.C.'s McCluskey is a backer of the club. He also became a fan of Celtic F.C. His Glaswegian father passed away.

McCluskey has been a long-serving atheist for a long time.

Atomic Kitten star Natasha Hamilton claims she was 'worked to the bone' during her time in the band

www.dailymail.co.uk, June 2, 2024
Natasha Hamilton has claimed she was 'worked to the bone' during her time in Atomic Kitten. The singer, 41, shot to fame alongside Kerry Katona and Liz McClarnon in 1999 as part of the group founded by OMD members Andy McCluskey and Stuart Kershaw. They achieved a run of hit singles, including Whole Again, but now she has claimed that 'exhaustion' was the reason  they and so many of their peers disbanded and by the end, she had to have a doctor intervene.
