Early life and career

Talancón began studying acting in Cancn with Cuban professor Albio Paz. She then moved to Mexico City to continue her studies at Héctor Mendoza and Ral Quintanilla. Since then, she has appeared in several soap operas, including Al norte del Corazón, Seora, and Amor Latino Romántica, for which she received the Sol de Oro award in 1999 for Best New Actress.

Talancón's big-screen debut was with the film El Cometa by Marisa Sistach, playing the character Valentina, for which she was nominated for the Ariel award for Best New Actress. In El Crimen del Padre Amaro (2002), she appeared alongside Gael Garca Bernal in the role of Amelia, a child who is impregnated by a Catholic priest and then dies after a backstreet abortion.

Career

Talancón, a Mexican immigrant forced to work in a meatpacking plant, appeared in Richard Linklater's Fast Food Country in 2006. She appeared in the big-screen film Alone as the central character last year. She appeared in other films, including The Virgin of Juarez, in which she received the award for Best Supporting Actress at the BendFilm Festival and Mujer Albhartina.

Talancón spent more time on big screen films, such as Love in the Time of Cholera and El Ultimo Justo, than Latin soap operas. She appeared in One Missed Call, Tear This Heart Out (Arráncame la Vida), and Days of Wrath, as well as a Mexican television series, Terminales, a year later.
