Kim Tae-hee (Korean) (born 29 March 1980) is a South Korean actress.

She is best known for her appearances in Korean dramas such as Stairway to Heaven (2004), Love Story in Harvard (2004), My Princess (2011), and Yong-pal (2015).

Early life and education

Kim Tae-hee was born in Ulsan, South Korea, on March 29, 1980. Kim Yoo Moon, the company's founder and chairman, is a father who was born and died in 1984. In the Ulsan area, she is often active in numerous charities to support underserved youth and broken families. Kim Hee-won and her younger brother, Lee Wan, are both actors and appeared in her television series Stairway to Heaven; the latter is also an actor. She attended Samshin Elementary School, Daehyun Middle School (), and then transferred to Ulsan Girls' High School.

Kim immigrated to Seoul in 1999 to attend college at Seoul National University, where she became the president of the SNU Women's Ski Club. She earned a bachelor's degree in fashion design from SNU in 2005.

Personal life

Kim began dating South Korean singer-actor Rain in September 2012. On January 19, 2017, the couple married.

Kim's company, Lua Entertainment, reported that she was pregnant with their first child on May 23rd. On October 25, 2017, she gave birth to a daughter. Kim announced that she was pregnant once more in February 2019. She gave birth to the couple's second child on September 19, 2019.

Kim is a practicing Catholic. She was one of 30 Catholic celebrities to appear in the album "Koinonia" in 2014, marking Pope Francis' visit to South Korea, the first time in 19 years that an incumbent pope visited South Korea. Verda is her baptismal name.

Career

Kim was riding the subway in 2000 and she was offered a modeling career. Kim appeared in television commercials and print advertisements before making her acting debut in the 2001 sequel Last Present. She appeared in Living in New Town and the sitcom Let's Go, as well as Screen and A Problem at My Younger Brother's House in 2003.

Kim rose to fame in 2003 by her portrayal of the wicked stepsister in the famous SBS TV series Stairway to Heaven. Kim was involved in many of her succeeding ventures, including the supernatural KBS series Forbidden Love and the SBS campus romance Love Story in Harvard, beginning in 2004. Throughout its tenure, the latter had a 20 percent peak viewership rating and was named the Most Popular Actress at the Baeksang Arts Awards, winning Kim the Most Popular Actress award in the TV category.
