Singing career
Kumar performed for the first time outside of his father's house at the age of 21 in 1973. It was named "Hosh Mein Hum Kahan," a Sapan Jagmohan film Darwaza, which was released in 1978.
In 1978, his duet with his father "Nazar Lage Na Saathiyo" from Des Pardes became very popular. He sang "Bade Achhe Lagte Hain" by R.D. in the 1976 film Balika Badhu.
