Amanda Marshall Life

Amanda Meta Marshall (born August 29, 1972) is a Canadian pop-rock singer.

She has released three studio albums, the first was officially recognized Diamond in Canada, with the latter two being certified 3x Platinum and Platinum respectively.

She is best known for her 1996 album, "Birmingham," which debuted in Canada at number three and was her first song to reach the US charts.

Early life

Marshall was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She grew up an only child, in her own words, "the product of an interracial marriage": her mother comes from Trinidad, while her father, John Howard, is Canadian. Marshall has discussed her racial identity in a number of her songs, "as a woman who appears white but is actually black."

During her youth, Marshall studied music extensively, including at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. Jeff Healey, a guitarist who had been struck by her charisma and took her on tour for a long time, met her in her teens while performing on the Queen Street West bar scene.

Amanda Marshall Career

Career

Marshall signed a recording deal with Metalblade Records in 1991, but the parties later decided that they were not a good match and parted out, but that they did not exist. Marshall signed to Epic Records in 1994 and contributed to Neil Young's tribute album Borrowed Tunes: A Tribute to Neil Young the same year. Amanda Marshall's debut album was released in 1995. The album was a big success in Canada, with radioplay and spawning six Top 40 hits, including "Let It Rain," "Befortiful Goodbye," "Sitting on Top of the World," and "Birmingham," her most popular hit in Canada and the only song to reach the US charts.

Marshall's song "This Could Take All Night" appeared in Tin Cup's original soundtrack in 1996. Marshall's song "I'll Be Okay" appeared on the original soundtrack of My Best Friend's Wedding in 1997.

She released Child's Child, a 1999 compilation, on Tuesday. It came in the same vein as her debut, with a combination of soulful pop songs and ballads, defining her strong voice. In The Replacements and on its soundtrack, she's song "Ride" from that album was included. Whitney Houston was a fan of the My Love Is Your Love World Tour in autumn 1999. Richie Sambora of Bon Jovi was the guest guitarist on "Why Don't You Love Me" on one episode of Touched by an Angel and on its soundtrack, as well as the 2002 direct-to-video film Kermit's Swamp Years. Carole King, who also performed background vocals on the track, co-wrote a song "Right Here All Along." At the 2000 Juno Awards, she was voted best songwriter.

Everybody's Got a Story, Marshall's third album was released in 2001. Marshall's style and sound were to change, with a noticeable R&B influence. Marshall's singles "Everybody's Got a Story" and "Sunday Morning After" received some Canadian airplay, and for the album, she collaborated with Peter Asher and Billy Mann.

Marshall's demise from the music scene was due to a legal dispute with her record company after she sacked her manager in 2002. Marshall is not allowed to reveal the facts of the controversy as the debate over royalties from the singles are yet to be decided.

Intermission: The Singles Collection, her first hits collection, was released in 2003, and she was followed by another greatest hits album, Collections. The Steel Box Collection, yet another greatest hits album, was released in 2008.

Marshall revealed in a 2012 radio interview that she was working on a new album. She told the radio host that "a new CD is in the works" and that she was "optimistic" of its arrival in 2013. She wrote an article in which she said that the record was "70 percent complete." Amanda's career received a boost when Elton John named her as an artist he's currently listening to when he appeared on The Rosie Show.
