Early life
Born in Huntington, New York, Coppola graduated from the Kent School in Kent, Connecticut, in 1986 and earned a bachelor's degree in political anthropology and philosophy from New York University in 1990. She is the sister of film producer Matthew Coppola and cousin of film producer Denise Di Novi. She does not appear to be related to the Coppola family of actors and filmmakers.

Coppola is married to actor, writer, and producer Anthony Michael Jones, best known for appearing in General Hospital as Father Coates, a recurring occasional role which he played in 11 episodes from 2002 through 2010. They have three daughters.
Career
Coppola began her work as a hostess on the MTV game show Remote Control. In 1991, she appeared in the soap opera Another World as Vixen Lorna Devon, the long-lost daughter of popular character Felicia Gallant. She appeared in the role until 1994.
Her most popular TV roles include a recurring appearance on Trinity (1998–99), a lead role on the British comedy Cold Feet (1999), and top billing on the TNT drama Bull (2000). In a 1999 episode of Sports Night, she appeared in Lt. Stadion, a widow who marries her late husband's murderer on Law & Order: Criminal Intent, and she also appeared as Lieutenant Commander Faith Coleman on JAG and NCIS (but as a different character). In 2003, she appeared alongside Gary Oldman and Ving Rhames in the film Sin, as well as playing Toni Stark on Dawson's Creek, a Hollywood rehabilitation stereotype.
