Carmina Alexis Mateo Pacheco, better known as Alexis Mateo, is a Puerto Rican drag queen, performer, reality television presenter, fashion designer, and the 2016 winner of Miss Gay Days.
Early life
Alexis Mateo, a born in 1979, began her drag career in Puerto Rico's gay nightclub circuit before relocating to Orlando, Florida, where she spent her time as a dancer and performer at Disney World. In addition to his drag career, which began in 2006, he is a fashion designer and has received the 2001 Inter Fashion Award for Best Fashion Designer.
Personal life
Mateo lives in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he appears at gay clubs and festivals both locally and nationally. After the two told the store that they had been instructed to leave the store due to their sexual orientation, Mateo and fellow contestant Yara Sofia initiated a boycott. Career
When living in Central Florida, he competed in many gay contests, including Miss Florida, Miss Orlando, Miss Lakeland, Miss Suncoast, Miss Suncoast, Miss Suncoast America, Miss Orlando, Miss Florida International, and Sunshine State All American Goddess.
Mateo has been involved in AIDS awareness and activism. After being included in a Gilead Sciences commercial titled "Red Ribbon Runway" with fellow Drag Race co-stars Manila Luzon, Delta Work, Shangela Laquifa Wadley, and Carmen Carrera, the outfit was auctioned off by Logo in honor of World AIDS Day. The National Association of People with AIDS received funds from the auction. Mateo appeared in the RuPaul's Drag Race "Queen" by band Xelle in 2012 (which also featured former drag race contestant Mimi Imfurst as a participant). She was one of thirty drag queens in Miley Cyrus' 2015 VMA exhibition.
Mateo debuted on Logo's reality show, RuPaul's Drag Race, on September 29, 2011. Mateo won three of the major competitions (Episodes 2, 3, and 8) before making it to the top three, where he was eliminated in the season finale, which aired on April 25, 2011.
On the third episode of RuPaul's Drag Race spin-off series Drag Race, Mateo appeared as a guest professor. Mateo was one of twelve current Drag Race contestants chosen to appear in RuPaul's Drag Race: All Stars, which premiered on the Logo network on October 22, 2012.
