Alexandra Reid Career

Career

Reid was first introduced as one of the three cast members of Discovery Kids' reality television children's program Endurance's third season in 2004. She was partnered with Bjorn Leum and competed together as the Green Team, ultimately finishing seventh overall in the tournament. Reid's Myspace profile was discovered by L.A. Reid's assistant, prompting her to move to New York City, New York, and begin planning her debut—actually signing a recording deal with Def Jam Recordings and a publishing contract with Sony Music. Scooter Braun took over Los Angeles, California, where she was then directed by Scooter Braun. Reid's debut single, "Body to Body," debuted on November 7, 2011 with accompanying lyric video. Dru Castro and Phil Margaziotis produced the song's lyrics, while Dru Castro and Phil Margaziotis produced the instrumental. At the Kwanzaa Fest 2011 festival in Dallas, Texas, the song was performed live for the first time in conjunction with Jessie J's interpretation of "Do It Like a Dude."

Letters to My Ex, Reid's debut extended play, debuted on August 31, 2012. Despite failing to chart, the extended play received rave reviews from online music blogs and forums. Letters to My Ex produced two singles before its initial publication; the first single, "Solder," was released on August 3, 2012. Traphik was also involved in the song's penmanship. "My Ex" was the second single released on August 10, 2012. During an interview with Chan Lo, a Chick N Kicks online publication, she revealed that production for her then-upcoming second extended play, Chik Muzik, has started and has been dubbed a "take it or leave it" type of music; young, new, and bold—music that doesn't take itself seriously." The extended play was expected to be published in March 2013, but it hasn't been announced since. Reid released "Want Me Some U," a year-long hiatus, on February 14, 2014.

Following several line-up changes prior to the apprehensions on October 29, 2015, DR Music declared a comeback for Rania with six composing members. Reid was later announced as the third and final newest addition to the company on November 4, 2015. Her membership was welcomed by Korean netizens, with many of them applauding her appearance; on the other hand, the unveiling of her album sparked a "heated debate between hardcore and casual supporters of K-pop and hip-hop, sparking differences regarding cultural appropriation, creative licenses, and proper representation." Demonstrate, Rania's third extended play, was released on November 4, 2015. However, the other members' music video did not include Reid but instead featured numerous snapshots of the other members throughout her verses. South Korean media reported the situation, citing visa problems as the root of the crisis. On November 11, 2015, the music video was re-released, with many photos of Reid filtered in grayscale. On the complete line-up on MBC's music television show Showdown on November 14, 2015, the song was performed live for the first time. Music Core.

In 2016, DR Music began a fund raising to support Hex's debut as a member of Reid and the youngest Hyeme, as well as Rania's forthcoming fourth extended play, which was scheduled for a release date in August 2016. However, Makestar's fundraising effort was ended due to several failed attempts of contact between the two parties. The termination occurred following the departure of three remaining original members of Rania—Di, T-ae, and Xia—which culminated in the postponement of their then-upcoming extended play. Reid was later promoted to the group's leader. She appeared at the W Concert festival in Seoul, South Korea, on November 20, 2016, following a brief stay in the United States to finalize Rania's next album. DR Music reported on December 29, 2016, that the company would be renamed BP Rania and ultimately released their fourth extended play, Start a Fire. As the second promotional single from the extended play, "Make Me Ah" became the second promotional single from the extended play. Reid was forced to miss the remaining scheduled performances for the single on February 21, 2017 due to an acting opportunity. In TV One's biographical film Bobbi Kristina, which premiered on October 8, 2017, she played a Britt. Reid resigned from the company on August 19, 2017, following a string of events that culminated in a feud with BP Rania's choreographer, DR Music announced Reid's resignation from the group.

Reid announced the forthcoming release of "East West," which was initially intended for the Hex sub-unit, but no time frame was given. The single was finally released on March 19, 2018. On June 24, 2018, "Gretchen Wieners" was released as a sequel to a single.
