Aaron Fredrick "AJ" Mitchell Jr. (born May 17, 2001) is an American singer-songwriter and musician who has recently signed to Epic Records.

Since posting videos of himself singing and performing covers on YouTube and Instagram, he gained a following in 2017.

Mitchell's first solo album, "Used To Be," debuted at age 13 and has over 60 million viewers. "All My Friends" (March 2019), number 39, debuted at No. 1 in the United States. 24, and "Slow Dance" (featuring Ava Max), which fell into the top 40 charts in October 2019.

AJ Mitchell was born in Belleville, Illinois, on May 17, 2001. Allison Mitchell Sr., his mother, and his father, Aaron Fredrick Mitchell Sr., is a traveling nurse. After their daughters Andrea and Addison (Addy), AJ is the couple's only son and youngest child.

Mitchell began piano lessons at the age of 4, influenced by his father, who was also learning to play piano and write songs. Mitchell attended Belleville West High School, where he competed on the football team and sang in the school choir.

Mitchell began performing at local open-mic nights in his hometown and posting articles on YouTube and Instagram, which helped him build a large fanbase. Mitchell's social media fan base helped him capture the interest of the LA-based artist manager Mike Spitz, whom Mitchell has worked with since 2015.

Mitchell's social media presence gave him the opportunity to relocate to Los Angeles in 2015 to work with internet marketing company Team 10. Mitchell left the group for a brief period of time together, purely on music.

AJ has also joined Team 10.

Mitchell's first solo single, "Used to Be," a song he wrote at age 13. Mike Dean, a hip-hop producer and engineer, produced the album. The show "Used to Be" has now surpassed over 150 million viewers.

Mitchell attracted attention from a number of different record labels before leaving the social media company, but ultimately signed with Epic Records. In February 2018, he signed his first big contract with the company.

In July 2018, Mitchell's first studio EP with Epic, Hopeful, was released. "Girls," Mitchell and Romans' co-written lead single, debuted at No. 1 in the United States. On the US Mediabase pop radio chart, 39 is 39. Billboard and Vevo named AJ as one of the top 19 artists to watch in 2019.

When discussing Mitchell's music, Epic Records CEO Sylvia Rhone referred to it as "exciting things to come."

Mitchell performed "No Plans" with Bay Area R&B singer-songwriter Marteen in 2018. On the following year's 2019 Hopeful Tour, Marteen rejoined Mitchell in a support role.

Mitchell co-authored the album "After Hours" with songwriting teamwork and Scottish singer-songwriter Nina Nesbitt.

Mitchell revealed later this month that his forthcoming debut full-length album with Epic Records was close to being released "very, very soon."

Mitchell signed a new joint venture with Insanity Records, a Sony Music subsidiary.

Mitchell's second EP Slow Dance, which includes his singles "Talk So Much," "Move On," and the title track starring American singer Ava Max, appeared on August 23, 2019.

Mitchell's debut studio album Skyview was released in October 2021 and features the singles "Used to Be," "Slow Dance," "Cameras On," and "Stop."
