Aasif Mandvi Life

Aasif Mandviwala (born March 5, 1966), also known as Aasif Mandvi (AH-sif MAHND-vee), is a British-American actor and comedian.

On August 9, 2006, he began working as an occasional contributing reporter on The Daily Show.

On March 12, 2007, he was promoted to a regular correspondent.

He is the lead actor, co-writer, and producer of the web series Halal in the Family, as well as an actor, writer, and co-producer of the HBO comedy film The Brink.

Mandvi is also the author of the book No Land's Man.

After delivering the commencement address that year, he was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Humanity Letters Degree by the Macaulay Honors College in June 2019.

He currently appears in the role of Ben Shakir in the CBS psychological drama Evil written and directed by Robert and Michelle King.

Early life

Mandvi was born in Bombay (now Mumbai, India), to a Dawoodi Bohra Muslim family. When he was a year old in Bradford, West Yorkshire, his family migrated to England, settling. Hakim's father, who had begun working in textiles research at Bradford University, later ran a corner store, while his mother, Fatima, was a nurse. Mandvi attended Woodhouse Grove School as an "working-class boy from Bradford." As Mandvi was 16 years old, his father became dissatisfied with Margaret Thatcher's administration and moved his family to Tampa, Florida, United States.

Personal life

Mandvi married Shaifali Puri, an author and humanitarian, at The Fox Theatre in Atlanta, Georgia, on August 27, 2017. The interfaith service (Puri is Hindu) was held in front of 220 people, including friends and relatives. Puri gave birth to their son on March 14, 2020, the first time they had known.

Mandvi has been suffering from persistent tinnitus for the rest of his life.

Mandvi is the author of the book No Land's Man.

Mandvi works with disaster relief companies like the humanitarian organization Relief 4 Pakistan, which helps with flood relief in Pakistan. Career

Mandvi earned a degree in theatre from the University of South Florida, and he spent time as a performer at Disney-MGM Studios at Walt Disney World Resort. He then migrated to New York City, where he first appeared in off-Broadway productions. He was active in the Cowboys and Indian band during this period. He was given the Obie Award for his one-man show Sakina's Restaurant.

Mandvi appeared on Broadway as Ali Hakim in the 2002 revival of Oklahoma! Trevor Nunn's scripted the film. Tony Kushner also appeared in Homebody/Kabul. In the off-Broadway play Einstein's Gift, he portrayed Fritz Haber.

In On the Razzle, Tom Stoppard's On the Razzle, Mandvi appeared as Melchior in the Williamstown Theatre Festival, as well as the Culture Project's award-winning work on Guantanamo: Honor Bound to Defend Freedom.
