Aaron Maxwell Schoenfeld (born April 17, 1990) is an American-Israeli professional soccer player who currently plays for Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Israeli Premier League.
Early life
Schoenfeld is Jewish, and was born in Knoxville, Tennessee, to Robert and Sherry. Schoenfeld's family are members of Temple Beth El in Knoxville. In an interview, Schoenfeld described his Jewish upbringing as being very traditional with his family regularly attending synagogue, keeping kosher, and respecting the Shabbat.
For high school, Schoenfeld attended Bearden High School and had an outstanding soccer career there, highlighted by a Tennessee state championship and a state championship final appearance.
He played on the collegiate level at East Tennessee State University, scoring 20 goals with 10 assists in 72 games for the East Tennessee State Buccaneers.

Schoenfeld is married to fellow soccer player Abby Dahlkemper. They announced their engagement in December 2020, and got married on January 5, 2021.
Club career
Schoenfeld was first drafted by the Montreal Impact in the 2012 MLS Supplemental Draft's second round (20th pick overall).
After acquiring his rights from the Impact in exchange for a conditional pick in the 2013 MLS Supplemental Draft, the Columbus Crew announced on March 23, 2012, they had signed Schoenfeld. He made his professional debut the day after signing. Emilio Renteria's replacement came on in the 69th minute against Montreal Impact, the team that had just traded him. The Crew went on to win 2–0.
Schoenfeld became the club's all-time goal holder for goals scored in a single season (12), when he was on loan with the Dayton Dutch Lions in 2014. Schoenfeld scored a brace against the New York Red Bulls during his return to the Columbus Crew. After the match, he would later cite this as a highlight of his career, as he received praise from New York striker Thierry Henry.
After a brief trial, Schoenfeld signed with Maccabi Netanya in 2015. Schoenfeld was granted provisional Israeli resident status by the Israeli Ministry of Interior on January 14, 2016, so he does not count as a foreigner for Netanya. Schoenfeld said on signing, "I have always wanted to come and play soccer in Israel" since growing up in a Zionist Jewish family, according to the Israeli media.
Schoenfeld made his Premier League debut for Netanya in a 1-0 loss at Levita Stadium to Itzik Cohen on January 23, 2016. Schoenfeld played for two games with Netanya and was sold together with Netanya's youth player Fadi Najar in exchange for 1 million.
Schoenfeld scored the first goal in the second minute on his debut with Hapoel Tel Aviv in a Tel Aviv derby on February 7, 2016. On February 2017, he joined Maccabi Tel Aviv.
Schoenfeld made his return to Major League Soccer on February 12, 2020, he with Minnesota United FC. In exchange for a second round pick in the 2021 MLS SuperDraft and additional considerations, Minnesota bought Schoenfeld's MLS rights from the Columbus Crew. Schoenfeld joined Austin FC as a free agent on February 4, 2021, just days before their inaugural season. Schoenfeld's employment choice was rejected by Austin following the 2021 season.
