Zakaria Labyad Life

Zakaria Labyad (born 9 March 1993) is a Dutch-born Moroccan professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder for Ajax in the Ethical league. The player has played for the Netherlands U17 team on international stage before transferring his allegiance to Morocco and playing for them at the Under-23 level.

Personal life

In a tweet, Labyad has expressed admiration to former PSV teammate Ibrahim Afellay, saying, "Ibrahim is my friend." During his time at PSV, Labyad lived in Utrecht with his family, so he has a lot of respect for him. At the ROC Eindhoven, he undertook an apprenticeship in "Sport & Activity."

Club career

Labyad, a native of Utrecht, was born in PSV's youth program. He continued his PSV service in January 2009 until the summer of 2012. Labyad played for USV Elinkwijk before joining PSV. In a UEFA Europa League home match against Hamburger SV on February 25, 2010, Labyad made his debut in the senior team against Hamburger SV, starting as a replacement for Otman Bakkal in the 71st minute. In a match against RKC Waalwijk, three days later, Labyad made his debut in the Ecrisie, masquering as a substitute for Balázs Dzsudzsudzsuzsua. In a home match against FC Groningen, Labyad made his first appearance in the starting lineup. Labyad's pick in the starting lineup paid immediate dividends, with him scoring two goals in the 3–1 victory. In a 1–1 draw against Alkmaar in the last match of the 2009–2010 season, Labyad was back in the starting lineup in a 1–1 draw. More or less, Labyad became a regular in the 2011-12 season and enjoyed a lot of success. He has appeared in 32 matches and scored six goals. He scored a goal in the KNV Beker semi-finals against Heerenveen and then claimed the trophy with PSV.

Labyad will be a member of Sporting CP's Portuguese team for the 2012–2013 season on a free transfer, with a five-year deal pact. However, PSV's technical director Marcel Brands told Dutch media that Labyad's contract had been extended for another year because Labyad refused to officially end his employment before the legal deadline of 15 May.

He officially joined Sporting on July 2, 2012. He made 27 appearances for the club in which he scored three times in his first season.

Labyad was sent on loan to Dutch side Vitesse in January 2014 after not playing a single match for Sporting during the first half of the season.

For the 2015–16 Primeira Liga season, Labyad returned to Sporting CP to work with new Sporting CP boss Jorge Jesus, who insisted on Labyad's return as part of him accepting the Sporting CP job. In fact, Labyad was regarded as a "pilar" for Jorge Jesus' new Sporting CP.

On February 1, 2016, Labyad went on loan to Fulham until the 2015–16 season. Sporting CP reported on August 31 that all sides had agreed to separate the agreement.

Labyad left for Emtrecht's Utrecht side FC Utrecht until 2019.

Labyad signed for AFC Ajax, an Economy team, on May 14th. He has been working on a four-year deal until June 2022.
