I'm a flight attendant... here is my  elbow rest strategy when sitting in the middle seat

www.dailymail.co.uk, October 13, 2024
Struggle for armrest space is a common frustration for many plane passengers - but one flight attendant has revealed a clever strategy for those stuck in the middle and caught between two armrest-hogging neighbours. Air travel has become a common mode of transport for many, with approximately half of UK households flying at least once a year. But as air travel increases, so do onboard tensions, with videos of disputes over seat space, crying children, and rowdy passengers frequently going viral. One particular pet peeve linked to the confined, limited space people have onboard is double armrest hogging. According to a 2023 survey conducted by Skyscanner, nearly a third of passengers flying with UK airlines found armrest hogging to be one of the most annoying habits onboard.

Tips to bar and restaurant staff soar as customers get embarrassed by waiters wielding card machines - but demise of cash is bad news for hotel chambermaids

www.dailymail.co.uk, October 2, 2024
New research has found that customers who tip by card tend to leave significantly more than those who use cash, with diners feeling more pressured and self-conscious by waiting staff wielding card machines at their table. Tips have risen by 54 percent in pubs, bars and clubs since last summer, and by 13 percent in cafés and restaurants. Although some of the increase is thought to be related to the cost of living crisis easing, a large part is said to be down to the fact that double the number of merchants are using the tipping function on card readers compared to a year ago. In pubs and bars, the increase in tipping has been helped further by functions that prompt drinkers to leave a tip as they pay.
