Career

Warren played the villain Andy Holt in Channel 4's Hollyoaks, after appearing in two episodes of the television series Shameless. Despite being 27 years old at the time, it was said that his youthful good looks and diminutive height helped him win the role of the scholar.

At the 2006 British Soap Awards, Brown was nominated for a number of accolades for his work in the show, including Best Villain, Most Spectacular Scene, and Best Exit. Holt, Brown's character, was killed in February 2006.

Brown appeared on Jane Hall, a short-lived ITV show. In March 2007, he appeared as Tommo in ITV's Mobile. In addition, Chris appeared on Casualty's one episode in 2007. He appeared in the second series of BBC Three's Grown Ups in September 2007, playing barman Alex Salade, and has appeared on stage since. He appeared in a Double Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps, a mix of Grownups, Two Pints, and Coming of Age, in 2009.

Brown appeared in Gomez: A True Story, based on boxer Michael Gomez's life and starring Emmerdale's Kelvin Fletcher in 2008. Brown appeared as Marky in E4's zombie drama Dead Set in October 2008. He appeared in Casualty in November 2008 but not in the same way as he did in 2007. Brown, along James Nesbitt and Stephen Graham Brown, appeared in two episodes of The Bill in 2009, where he was instrumental in trafficking young girls unlawfully. These episodes were titled "The Forgotten Child."

He appeared in the BBC drama Luther as the regular character of DS Justin Ripley, a role he reprised in June 2011 in the second series of Luther. In 2013, Brown quit the series. Brown appears in the "I Remember" music video for the song "I Remember" by Stephen Graham, Aston Kelly (Graham's brother), Greg Walsh (Graham's brother), and Emma Edmondson, a former Coronation Street actress. Brown appeared as Matt in the BBC drama Single Father in October 2010. He appeared in February 2012 as one of the main characters in the BBC drama series Inside Men. In The Dark Knight Rises, Christopher Nolan's third instalment of his Batman trilogy, he appeared as a member of Bane's Mercenary Security.

In the sixth series and second reimagining of Strike Back opposite Daniel MacPherson, he appears as Sergeant Thomas "Mac" McAllister, the British-American action television series. In February 2020, the eighth series's filming concluded and aired.

Brown has appeared in several audio dramas for the firm Big Finish Productions, the most notable of which was a recurring role in their UNIT series, a spin-off based on the military group that appeared in Doctor Who on a regular basis, and playing Keith Burrow in Big Finish's original 8-part thriller 'Transference.' Brown will make his debut in the television series Praxeus in 2020, but as a different character, former police officer Jake Willis, who was searching for his husband.

It's more Bognor than Bondi, according to CHRISTOPHER STEVENS of last night's television show Shivering Poms, grey skies, it's more Bognor than Bondi

CHRISTOPHER STEVENS (BBC1): If you're curious about the Ten Pound Poms (BBC1), it'd be appropriate to infer a comparison to the charity shop budget of this story. Characters were moaning over the Australian heat, but they were shivering in their threadbare cotton dresses and frayed trousers. The sky was overcast, the atmosphere was damp, and a group of actors rushed over a sand dune and into the sea was all they could do not to shriek with the cold. This was more Bognor than Bondi. Most scenes were shot on studio sets so cramped that the camera couldn't move to mask the lack of Australian sunshine. This brought a soap operatic feel to a story that already relied on stereotypes and stock characters: the teenage girl hiding her pregnancy. In 1956, Warren Brown (right) plays Terry, a shattered World War II soldier who books £10 passages Down Under with all his family for a new life.

The poms had been a disappointment

Ten Pound Poms, a literary British set in 1956, follows a group of fictional British characters who took advantage of the Australian government's offer to move them to Oz and provide subsidised housing and jobs for them. The Assisted Passage Migration Scheme operated in various stages from 1945 to 1972, enticing more than a million and a half Britons who could apply for Australian citizenship after a year. If they wanted to return to Britain within two years, they would have to pay their £10 back and finance their own journey (roughly £6,000 in today's money). Set in 1956, Ten Pound Poms follows a bunch of fictional Brits who took advantage of the Australian government's offer to transport them to Oz and provide subsidised housing and jobs for them for £10 per person
