They recorded their first album in 1997, three years after the band formed. During three years, the band lived in a basement at the college and performed in local clubs and bars. Wang took the vice concertmaster of the National Ballet of China Symphony Orchestra to help his father's estate and ensure a steady income. However, Wang resigned after a year of concertmaster work and moved fully into Rock music. The band was sponsored by "Xiao Wei" (nickname), an alumnus of the Central Conservatory of Music, at the start. The band was able to practice and perform due to the sponsorship of Xiao Wei. They grew their reputation in Beijing, which culminated in the band's signing of a record deal with Beijing Jingwen Record Co., Ltd on May 31, 1997. The band was not profitable under Xiao Wei's sponsorship. Wang couldn't even pay his rent at that time. The band had a chance to enter the music industry and solve the money issue, thanks to its recent contract with Beijing Jingwen Record. Wang Feng's whole crew and I understood the benefits of the contract, according to Xiao Wei. He ended the sponsorship and left Beijing.

Several people on the internet said that the hit song Brave Heart was a recreation of the Canadian pop-punk band Simple Plan's Crazy. "I don't have to copy other people's work," Wang said. It's as simple as that. I don't have to do it at all."
