Wingert was born in Des Moines, Iowa, on May 6, 1961, but he soon moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Personal life
Wingert is a native of Palm Springs, California. He enjoys collecting animation art, autographs, sketches, movie and television costumes, collectible toys, and rock and roll merchandise in his spare time.
He is not related to fellow voice actor Mick Wingert.
Career
He began his career in radio as a disc jockey in 1977, at the age of 16 years old. In 1987, he moved to Los Angeles, California, where he continued his radio career.
In reaction to Michael Keaton's casting of him as the titular character for Batman, Wingert parodied the Escape Club song "Wild, Wild West" on the Dr. Demento radio show as "Adam West." He continued to work with Westwood One but then departed the station and assumed a full-time job as an air personality on KTWV. After five years, he departed the radio station and pursued a career in acting and voice acting.
Wingert was the announcer for the second iteration of The Tonight Show with Jay Leno (and its spin-off The Jay Leno Show), as well as Jon Arbuckle of The Garfield Show. He is also known as the Almighty Tallest Red from Invader Zim (opposite Kevin McDonald), The Avengers' Mightiest Heroes, Renji Abarai of Bleach and Kotetsu T. Kaburagi / Wild Tiger from Tiger & Bunny.
