Uri Malmilian (born April 24, 1957) is an Israeli former football player and current manager.
Early life and playing career
Malmilian was born in Mamilla, West Jerusalem's suburb, and had a fruitful playing career in the Liga Leumit. He is regarded as one of the finest Israeli players ever.
At an early age, a Malmilian joined Beitar's youth system at an early age. Malmilian made his first appearance in Beitar's senior staff at the age of sixteen (16). He scored a spectacular goal from a corner kick in this first match.
In 1976, Malmilian had his breakthrough. He coached the team to the second place in the league and claimed the Israeli Cup, Beitar's first significant trophy, after his goal in the 90th minute claimed the title. He was named Player of the Season and was invited to the National Team well before the age of 18. Uri became the youngest player to be drafted to Israel's national football team after being admitted.
Malmilian was offered a lucrative deal by French club Paris Saint-Germain in 1979, but he chose to continue playing with Beitar.
