Toshiya Life

Toshiya (born in Nagano on March 31, 1977) is a Japanese singer.

He is best known as the bassist of Dir En Grey's metal band.

He has been with the band since its inception in 1997, but not in La:Sadie's as the other four previously were.

Toshiya has only written a few of Dir en grey's songs, such as "Erode" and "Bottom of the Death Valley," unlike his fellow band members Kaoru and Die.

His compositions, surprisingly, have a distinct, bass-driven sound.

2005–2006: Early non-Asian touring

Dir En Grey appeared in Europe for the first time in 2005. Their concerts in Berlin and Paris (part of the It Withers and Withers tour) sold out without an invitation except for newsletters from import record stores and internet-based word of mouth.

The band has appeared at two major festivals, Rock am Ring and Rock in Park. Eths, a French band, opened for them at the Paris concert, and Dir en Grey invited an American musician and his band to perform in Japan on Wednesday. They were becoming more popular with the international music scene. Dir En Grey was also on the Japanese leg of the Taste of Chaos tour earlier this year.

The company's first official European releases came in 2005, ranging from Withering to Death. The band's songs had only been available to European fans through import and Internet file-sharing. The album debuted on Dir En Grey's first non-Asian chart position, peaking at No. 2. In the Finnish album charts, 31 is number 31. Later, the following single, "Clever Sleazoid," soared to No. 1. In the same region, 15 people appear on the singles charts. Several Dir En Grey songs were also included in the 2005 film Death Trance's soundtrack.

Touring to the United States began in early 2006 and has since grew to the United States. The band appeared at the Avalon Club and Los Angeles, California, then accompanied by the North American release of Withering to Death. All shows were sold out within days, once more. Singer Kyo was hospitalized in Germany after further concerts and festival appearances in the summer, due to inflamed vocal cords. Although two concert dates in Japan had to be postponed, Diren Grey was nevertheless able to attend Korn's Family Values Tour 2006. The band appeared at the Loudpark Festival in October, along with bands such as Megadeth, Slayer, and Children of Bodom. During the Inward Scream tour's Japanese leg, the Inward Scream Tour's 22nd single "Agitated Screams of Maggots" was released on November 15th. The music video for -Saku- was voted No. 1 on December 30. On the MTV2 show Headbangers Ball, there is 1 video of the year.

Dir En Grey went on its first North American headlining tour in February, touring sixteen cities as its sixth full-length album The Marrow of a Bone was released in Japan and Europe in the ensuing months on February 7. Deftones appeared on the road from May to July, and then performed another European tour, including debut shows in Denmark, Finland, Poland, Sweden, and the United Kingdom, as well as numerous festival appearances around the continent, including Ankkarock, M'era Luna Festival, and Wacken Open Air.

After their most recent single "Dozing Green" debuting in Japan and spreading throughout Europe, the group's first appearance in the Netherlands and Switzerland culminated in a second international tour in September. Diren Grey opened two shows at Saitama Super Arena in late November and another one in December marked the end of the Japan tour with 10 years as a support act. On December 19, two of the best hits compilations, Decade 1998–2002 and Decade 2003–2007 respectively, commemorating Dir En Grey's tenth anniversary as a band were announced.

Dir En Grey revealed plans to record a new studio album at the start of 2008. In May, the first tour of the year, Shinkiba Studio Coast, came to an end with three shows titled Death over Blindness. Dir En Grey's seventh studio album, Uroboros, was released in the United States on August 1, 2008. The band also toured Canada in support of the album, with dates scheduled for November and December (overlapping the release of Uroboros) as the first act The Human Abstract. Dir En Grey's fall tour included a series of four shows, two of which were fan club exclusives, and a single show under the moniker Uroboros -Breathing- at the famous Osaka-jo Hall, where he hadn't appeared since December 18, 1999 (as seen on 1999.12.18 Osakajo Hall).

The band began to promote Uroboros fully in the spring of 2009 with a series of national tours under the name Tour 09 Feast of V Senses. For a brief period in Sapporo and Sendai, the tour was postponed briefly due to a death of the larynx caused by an eruption of the larynx, which required the cancellation of three shows, which were postponed until May.

Diren Grey's Feast of V Senses tour in Europe continued, with a mixture of festival appearances, headlining shows, and one co-headlining performance with Killswitch Engage. The festival included their third appearances at Rock am Ring and Rock im Park, as well as their first concerts at Download Festival, Nova Rock, and Metaltown. Dir En Grey was also playing debut concerts in Italy and the Czech Republic as one of the headlining shows.

Dorje, a three-live tour that ended the 2009 tour season, concluded. They brought an end to their long-centered tour by playing two back-to-back performances at the Nippon Budokan, titled Uroboros: with the facts in the name of living, where tickets sold out in 15 minutes.

On April 7, 2010, it was announced on April 7, 2010 that the band would return to the United Kingdom in August for the Sonisphere Festival in Knebworth, playing on a bill headlined by Iron Maiden and Rammstein. This was to be their only UK festival appearance of the year, according to the festival website. "I'd never have guessed that we'd be hosting a festival of this caliber," Kaoru (on the Sonisphere UK website) says. To be a part of such great bands at Sonisphere is like a dream come true. Although we're not back in the United Kingdom for a tour, we wanted to give back to the fans who were dissatisfied last year with the cancellation of our final in London.

In November and December 2011, Age Quod Agis' South and North American tour was showcased on the band's South and North American tour.

Toshiya Career

1997–1999: Early career

Four of Dir En Grey's members were preceded by the independent rock band La:Sadie's, which featured four of Dir En Grey's members before disbanding. They disbanded due to leader and bassist Kisaki's refusal to debut because it was too soon, but guitarist Kaoru said they were excited for it. Toshiya, a bassist who left Kisaki, and members Kaoru, Kyo, Die, and Shinya, all got a new band. They officially established "Dir en grey" on February 2, 1997 after appearing at one show as a Kuroyume cover-band at the live house Nagano J on January 24, 1997.

The band's name is a combination of German "dir," French "en," and English "grey" and was thought to refer to "Grey Silver Coin" (Hiro no Ginka); the Japanese translation was used as the name of their fanclub's fanclub's magazine. They wanted to create a black and white symbol, so they went for grey. In an early interview, vocalist Kyo admitted that he knew the name before the band was established. Kaoru explains that they borrowed the name from another band that was well-known at the time during the WOWOW Special in 2020. This band was La Lavonne, who had released "Dir en gray" in 1995. The line en gray starts the song, with the Latin portion being a faithful translation of the Japanese part. Both mean "to you in grey." "At the time we picked the band name, it had some significance but right now it doesn't mean anything particular." We chose the band name because it sounded legitimate, and because it also depicts an image that is undoubtedly does not exist elsewhere.

They dropped Missa, a few months later and drew widespread notice in 1998 by establishing themselves on the Oricon music charts with the songs "Jealous" and "Ill-." During the first half of 1999, five subsequent singles, arranged and produced by X Japan co-founder Yoshiki Hayashi, were released. Gauze, the band's first full-length album, was followed by others. One of the album's highlights (filmed at the Osaka-jo Hall) would later become the first of many live concerts to be released on VHS and DVD.

With hearing difficulties and a number of dates of the tour in support of Dir En Grey's then-upcoming album, Macabre, had to be postponed in 2000. 01 Macabre died earlier this year, and Nippon Budokan closed shortly after the single "Ain't Afraid to Die" was released in April 2001.

Kisou, Dir En Grey's debut in the United States in the first year as a result of the release of a new full-length album, they appeared in China, Taiwan, and South Korea. The last dates of Rettou Gekishin Angya's tour were already in favor of the band's second EP, Six Ugly, back in Japan. They released the single "Child Prey," the second opening theme of the Baki the Grappler anime series, as well as the start of their fourth album, Vulgar. Dir En Grey appeared at Akasaka Blitz for five evenings in a row, with each show (except the first) themed after a particular song from the time when it was still being announced by Vulgar. Later, a DVD set dubbed "A Knot" was exclusively for members of the band's official fan club. Vulgar was born in September 2003, and tours in support of the record would last well into 2004.
