Tim Foreman Life

Timothy David "Tim" Foreman, a bassist for the band Switchfoot, is the band's bassist. He was born in Lake Arrowhead, California, but grew up in Boston, Massachusetts, and Virginia Beach, Virginia.

He and his family then migrated to San Diego, where they have three children Jett, born in April 2005, and daughter Layla, all named 'Scholar Athlete' for their outstanding achievements in surfing and education.

He is the youngest member of Switchfoot, their first album The Legend of Chin was announced just four days after he had left high school.

Switchfoot's lead singer, guitarist, and songwriter, Jon Foreman, has co-written several of the group's songs.

"Easier than Love" is one of his writers' "Oh!" Gravity" and a handful of others. Tim created the covers for Switchfoot albums Learning to Breathe, The Beautiful Letdown, and Fading West.

The Big Sword was also designed by Tim, who created the Switchfoot symbol.

Formation and early years (1996–2002)

In 1996, Switchfoot, which was comprised of Jon Foreman and his brother Tim, as well as Chad Butler on drums, was formed. The band was first contacted by music industry veteran Charlie Peacock and eventually signed to his indie label Re:think Records under the new moniker Switchfoot. Re:think continued to publish the first three Switchfoot albums, The Legend of Chin, New Way to Be Human, and Breathe. However, Re:think was purchased by Christian giant Sparrow Records before Switchfoot's first appearance, but the band and Peacock's plans of being promoted outside of the Contemporary Christian music scene and reaching a wider audience were put on hold. As a result, the band was mainly targeted to Christian radio and retail stores early in their careers, which Jon Foreman has characterized as "half of who we were lost."

Learning to Breathe was the most successful of Switchfoot's first three albums, earning a Grammy Award for Best Rock Gospel Album.

Switchfoot's music was prominent in the film A Walk to Remember, starring singer and actress Mandy Moore, who performed Switchfoot's "Only Hope" during a scene. In addition to Moore's coverage of "Only Hope," Switchfoot's songs "You," "Learning to Breathe," and "I Dare You to Move" were included in the film, as well as their own version of "Only Hope" toward the end of the film.

Switchfoot attracted notice from several record labels, eventually signing with Columbia Records/SonyBMG, following the exposure from A Walk to Remember. The Beautiful Letdown, Columbia Records/Red Ink's first album, represented the band's transition from the band's traditional lo-fi, indie rock sound of their early records to a more layered, synth-influenced sound that helped bring the band to mainstream success. This shift could be attributed to the fact that Jerome Fontamillas, a member of industrial bands Mortal and Fold Zandura, was the first to feature keyboardist Jerome Fontamillas. Following the debut of Learning to Breathe, Fontamillas has been touring with Switchfoot since 2000.

Since being primarily touring and the huge mainstream radio hits "Meant to Live" and "Doe You to Move," the Beautiful Letdown has since been rated double platinum, selling more than 2.6 million copies. Live in San Diego, one of the band's live performances, went platinum, and "This Is Your Life" was released to radio. In addition, the song "Gone" received major airplay on Christian radio stations.

Following Switchfoot's first three indie albums released under Re:think records, including the original artwork for both the albums, the runsaway success of The Beautiful Letdown was released. This collection has since been designated Gold, with total sales of over 500,000 copies.

Switchfoot has received five Dove Award nominations in 2005 and four others, including Artist of the Year.

Switchfoot revealed in 2005, before the debut of Nothing Is Sound, that guitarist Drew Shirley (previously the guitarist for All Together Separate) had been the band's fifth member after touring with the band since 2003. Nothing Is Sound was released on September 13, 2005, and Switchfoot's sound became even more densely layered and guitar-heavy, resulting in an album that was edgier and darker than their previous work. "Stars" was the first radio single to promote the album, and it was a huge hit on mainstream and alternative rock radio stations. It was also used in HBO commercials. In early 2006, "We Are One Tonight" was the second single, and it was also included in ads for the 2006 Winter Olympics.

The album debuted at No. 88. Tim Foreman, a bassist, attracted attention by speaking out against the brand's copy-protection policy and giving fans a detailed workaround on the band's message board, which was quickly taken down by Sony. Extended Copy Protection has been designated as a trojan horse and a rootkit by leading anti-virus firms.

The band "a video diary of life on the road" on the road during the Nothing Is Sound Tour's spring 2006 leg, as well as free video podcasts available on iTunes and YouTube. The videos, as well as showcasing clips from the band's touring lives, as well as a video of the band performing on their sequel to Nothing Is Sound, gave fans an inside look at the more casual and humorous aspects of the band's touring lives.

Switchfoot's next album, Oh!

Gravity, which was announced on December 26, 2006, received a lot of critical attention. At No. 11, it debuted on the Billboard charts at No. 1. The No. 18 and peaked at No. 10. 1 on iTunes' Top Albums chart.

Switchfoot sent a newsletter on June 2 containing a free download of the song "Daylight to Break," a Foreman spokesman who said that the band intended to have a new album out by the end of the year, as well as a thank you to their fans for assisting the band in keeping the band together for ten years. The band wanted to involve their fans in the recording of the album, from establishing a webcam in their recording studio, and running a competition for a chance to play the cowbell in the band's studio.

The band first released "Dirty Second Hands," as a "preview" single on iTunes on September 26, in order to market the album.

The title track "Oh!

Gravity" was also released on iTunes on October 21 and was sent to radio on October 31 as the album's lead single, despite limited success in alternative and modern rock radio. "Awakening," the album's second single, was released in early 2007. Despite the fact that there was virtually no interest on mainstream radio, the accompanying band-funded music video game received over one million hits on YouTube in less than three months.

Along with preorders of Oh!

Gravity came a 3-song EP called Oh!

Switchfoot is a game of Switchfoot. Three songs were included on the CD: "The Sound in My Mouth," "C'mon C'mon," and "Oh!" Gravity (Acoustic): "Acoustic Gravity" Gravity (Acoustic) "The Gravity" Gravity

Jon Foreman revealed later that the band had broken links with Columbia Records in order to debut music as an Indie band. "Neither party has any bad feelings" about the divorce a few months later. "I think for us, the reason we signed with Columbia was because of the people who were there." So it's understandable that all those people have been gone, but you don't have any legitimate negative or admiration for a company's name. I believe that is part of the corporate entity as a whole, that there is no real responsibility." Later in October, the band revealed that they had created lowercase people records in order to better establish a direct link with their followers.

Foreman began working on his own set of solo EPs (one named after each season of the year) on November 27, 2007, the first of which was released on June 10, 2008. The most well-known from a line of launches is "Your Love Is Strong." Each of Jon's EP's featured six songs. At the end of all of this, he released Limbs and Branchs, sort of "best of" album. "Over the River" and "Broken from the Start" were two additional songs for this series. They were reissued on vinyl in limited quantities after all four EPs were released. Foreman also started "The Real SeanJon," but later renamed "Fiction Family" after he later changed it to "Fiction Family."

Switchfoot started on their 2007 fall tour as an independent band, performing with Relient K and Ruth. The tour, dubbed the "Appointment For Humanity," was intended to raise money for Habitat For Humanity, with the bands donating one dollar per ticket sold to the cause. In addition, Foreman co-created the song "Rebuild" with Matt Thiessen of Relient K and released it as a way to raise additional funds for Habitat. The bands had raised over $100,000 for Habitat for Humanity by the end of the tour. With no new album to promote, the band continued touring for philanthropic causes, notably the Up in Arms Tour, partnering with and promoting the group To Write Love on Her Arms.

The band wrote and recorded "This Is Home" for the film "The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian" in March 2008. The song appeared on the film's official soundtrack, and an accompanying music video was also shot, with a video from the film.

Columbia Records/Sony Music's The Best Yet compilation album came later this year, a sort of "final farewell from Sony."

Foreman revealed in a MySpace blog on March 17, 2007 that Switchfoot had begun pre-production for a new album, saying that "the new SF record is ongoing." Later that day, Foreman revealed that the band had started working on their own studio in San Diego, a suburb. Spot X Studio Studio, the band's successor to 2006's Oh! Gravity is the product of Gravity.

The band revealed in April that instead of a single studio album, they had been busy on 4 albums of work and had decided to unleash them one after another, beginning with the first one on November 10, 2009. The band's name was Hello Hurricane.

Following the success of Hello Hurricane, the band began looking for "the right people" to market the songs around the world. Lowercase People Records had licensed the album to Atlantic Records on August 7, 2009, ensuring that "these tunes are heard around the world." The band took a hands-on approach with their lead single, "Mess of Me," by hiding copies of the album around the world and urging followers to share it around by finding the discs and making copies of their own to hide. The single made its way around the world in grassroots fashion ahead of a traditional radio broadcast, with the track debuting at number 15 of Modern Rock radio. "The Sound (John M. Perkins' Blues) was released shortly after, becoming the band's first Top 10 Modern Rock hit since "Dare You to Move."

Hello Hurricane had been nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Rock or Rap Gospel Album on December 1, 2010. It was named on February 13, 2011, 2011, when it was announced on February 13, 2011.

Switchfoot revealed on their website that they would be releasing an EP of songs written and recorded by Nothing Is Sound and Oh! Gravity is a force. It was called Eastern Hymns for Western Shores. The masters of these tracks' locations were unknown for a time. Switchfoot announced that the EP would be available as part of their holiday fan pack, which also included a Switchfoot calendar, poster, sweatshirt jacket, and limited edition post cards, one for each of the EP's songs. The band's newsletter referred to these albums as revealing their "darker" side. Five of the Oh! album had never before seen songs with a different cut. "Dirty Second Hands" is the Gravity song on the album.

Vice Verses, Switchfoot's eighth studio album, was announced on September 27, 2011, and debuted at No. 1. Billboard 200, page 8: On the Billboard 200. Butler says that the nexus of life's record rests thematically in the belief of life's polarity. On September 27, 2011, AllAccess revealed that "Dark Horses" was the latest rock radio, with "Dark Horses" debuting on modern rock radio on July 20.

Bassist Tim Foreman calls Vice Verses a cousin of Hello Hurricane, but in some ways related. Tim, speaking about his brother (Switchfoot's lead singer, Jon), said, "It features some of his best lyrical work" on the album, as well as Tim's delight with the musical aspects of the undertaking. "We set goals from the beginning, one of which being to make a very steady record, a very reflective record, and a very hard-hitting record that really pushes the boundaries, the highs, and the lows," he told CBN.com.

Switchfoot performed "Out of Control," a track for the Hawaii Five-0 soundtrack that was released on October 4, 2011.

Switchfoot's new EP hit, Vice Re-Verses, on Record Store Day 2012. The EP's digital download was confirmed on May 1.

Switchfoot was on tour and filming a film called Fading West as of May 2013. Drew Shirley, the band's guitarist, has said that it was "a surf documentary mixed with behind the scenes footage of the band" and that "the soundtrack will be released as a CD and it will be [their] next album." Switchfoot unveiled a Fading West EP on September 17, 2013 which contained three tracks from the full album's catalogue. "Who We Are" and "Love Alone Is Worth the Fight," two songs on the EP, were released in various radio formats as the lead singles promoting the forthcoming album. The Fading West film premiered in September 2013 and was released digitally on December 10, 2013. Switchfoot's ninth studio album, also titled Fading West, was released on January 14, 2014, through lowercase people and Atlantic Records.

Jon Foreman of YouTube speculated in a YouTube interview with Relevant magazine that a new album would be released in late 2014 or early 2015 mainly consisting of the songs that were cut from the Fading West film. The Edge of the Earth, an EP, was released on September 9, 2014. The foreman has also revealed that he would be releasing between 30-50 new songs for his solo albums in 2015, most likely during 2015.

In May and June 2015, Switchfoot toured in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and the Netherlands. Switchfoot toured with Needtobreathe, Drew Holcomb, Neighbors, and Colony House in August and September 2015 during the second leg of the "Tour De Compadres" tour.

Switchfoot revealed on December 6, 2016, via email newsletter and on their website, that the premiere of their latest film, Live from Hollywood Palladium, will take place on September 6, 2016.

On the "Looking for Summer" tour, the band went on tour with Lifehouse in July 2017. The band performed 30+ shows around the United States and Canada. It was the first time either Lifehouse & Switchfoot performed together, and rock fans from across North America got to hear both live bands from the same period. When on tour, Lifehouse and Switchfoot had a new single to help those affected by Hurricane Harvey. "Shine Like Gold" is the song on "Shine Like Gold."

Switchfoot revealed on December 15, 2017 via their website and mailing list that they would not be returning home from their fall tour and into the "foreseeable future." "For the first time in twenty years, we are taking an extended break," the band announced.

The band released a clip on YouTube announcing that they had come out of hiatus and were working on something called "Project 11" on March 30, 2018. In addition, they preview a heavy metal version of "Meant to Live," claiming that this is their new sound. This was announced to be an April Fool's Joke two days later on April 1.

The band's single "You Found Me" was released on August 9, 2018, as the single supporting the drama film "Unbroken: Path to Redemption." On September 14, 2018, the film's soundtrack album was released.

Switchfoot's release, Covers, features the band's comparisons against songs from Frank Ocean, Vampire Weekend, The Chainsmokers, The Verve, Harry Styles, and Jon Bellion, which was released in Spring 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic. Fantasy Records first announced it on June 19, 2020. Switchfoot's first single from their twelfth studio album Interrobang was "I Need You (To Be Wrong). The album was released on August 20, 2021. On July 8, 2022, the six-year anniversary of their 2016 album "Where The Sun Shines Through," was released in a "deluxe" version of the album. On the "Into the Mystery Tour," Switchfoot returned to live touring for Needtobreathe. They also collaborated on a Needtobreathe-based Amazon original Christmas song called "Hometown Christmas."
