Martn Méndez (born in Montevideo, Uruguay) is the bassist of progressive death metal band Opeth and the second longest serving member of the band, behind lead singer, songwriter, and guitarist Mikael kerfeldt. Méndez has been a member of many other bands, including Fifth to Infinity, Proxima, and Vinterkrig.
Méndez joined Opeth right before the recording of their third album My Arms, Your Hearse began.
However, time constraints prevented him from performing on the album, so Opeth frontman Mikael kerfeldt's bass lines were recorded.
