Rugby career
Evans was born in 1985, the second of two sons, and he was educated at Windlesham House School and Wellington College in Berkshire. In June 2008, he earned his first cap for the Scottish rugby union team against Argentina. He was selected in the 2008 Six Nations 30-man team.
Evans played for England at U16, U18, and U21 levels. He wanted to commit to Scotland at a high level and at a seven-year old age. He may have played for the England 7's team but was forced to leave due to injury.

Evans sustained a serious neck injury in the Six Nations game against Wales on February 13, 2010, colliding with Welsh player Lee Byrne.
