Early life and career
Violet grew up in Ashland, Oregon, and performed in theatre performances when she was in high school. She launched her YouTube channel in July 2006 and started vlogging for a school project under the name Meekakitty while living in Hong Kong and Thailand as a fashion model.
Violet gained notoriety after winning $100,000 in a YouTube competition by getting the most comments on her video entry after moving to New York City in 2009. Violet was featured in Awolnation's music video in 2011. The video went viral and has since earned over 370 million views.
