Steve Riley (born January 22, 1956 in Revere, Massachusetts) is an American rock and glam metal drummer best known for his role as the L.A.'s drummer. Guns and the W.A.S.P.
Career
Riley moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in music after graduating high school in the 1970s. He appeared on Steppenwolf in 1979, but the line was interrupted later that year.
Riley, a member of up-and-coming Los Angeles band Keel, released their debut album The Right to Rock with them in 1984. Riley left Keel to replace founding member Tony Richards in W.A.P., another Los Angeles band whose debut album had recently earned gold status in sales. Riley appeared on the albums The Last Commandment, Inside the Electric Circus, and Live...in the Raw. Riley has been described by vocalist Ron Keel as "driven to succeed and to play." "I've got to be in for those opportunities when they knock," Riley said about leaving his band for the opportunity with W.A.P. Both Keel and Riley are close friends.
Riley left W.A.P. after he was a student at the University of Washington. L.A.'s Sunset Strip band has risen to fame, and he quickly joined rising Sunset Strip band L.A. Guns were introduced in 1987, becoming part of the band's "classic" line, alongside guitarists Tracii Guns and Mick Cripps, singer Phil Lewis, and bassist Kelly Nickels. He appeared on the albums Cocked & Loaded, as well as Hollywood Vampires. Riley was fired from the band in 1992 but reunited in 1995.
In 2006, there were two L.A.'s. Phil Lewis's and Tracii Guns's rifles lines have been edited into weapons sets, as well as Tracii Guns'. Riley was a member of Lewis' range until it was killed in 2016 when merging with Guns' version. Riley later developed his own interpretation of Los Angeles. In 2019, there were weapons in the United States. Renegades, Golden Robot Records' version, is an album that was released on DVD. Following litigation over the band's name, a deal was reached in April 2021, allowing the band to continue as Riley's L.A. Arms.
