Steve-O Life

Stephen Gilchrist Glover (born 13 June 1974), better known by his stage name Steve-O, is an actor, stunt performer, writer, and comedian with a Canadian citizenship.

His entertainment career has largely revolved around his appearance appearances on the American television series Jackass, its sequels, and its spin-off series Wildboyz.

Early life and education

Stephen Gilchrist Glover was born in Wimbledon, London, on June 13, 1974. Donna Gay Glover (née Wauthier), a Canadian, and Richard Edward "Ted" Glover, an American of English descent, is a father of English descent. Wayne Howell, his maternal step-grandfather, was a voice-over announcer. In an interview with Graham Bensinger, Steve-O's family moved to Brazil due to his father's work as president of Pepsi-Cola's South American division, and Steve-O said in a chat with Graham Bensinger that his first words were in Portuguese. When he was two, his family migrated to Venezuela, where he learned fluent Spanish; at age 4, he returned to England; at age 6, he returned to England; and remained there for the four years after he graduated.

He came to the University of Miami to study with the School of Communications but he dropped out after a year due to poor grades and acts of disobedience in class. He attended the University of New Mexico from 1996 to 1997. In 1997, he graduated from Barnum & Bailey Clown College. After graduation, he was not chosen to be a member of the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus but rather worked as a clown in a circus at the Fort Lauderdale Swap Shop flea market. Throughout this period, he filmed his stunts, including his clown shows.

Personal life

Steve-O is best known for his gravelly voice, which he attributed to his heroin use and a number of stunts he's done over the years. After visiting a specialist, however, he was surprised to learn that it was simply because of his habit of using his throat muscles to talk rather than his vocal cords.

Steve-O has been a vegan for both health and compassion reasons since being born in 2010. "I can tell you that being vegan has improved every single area of my life." Following the Jackass 3D stunt involving a ram (during which he cut his hand), he has expressed reservations about doing stunts that "mess with animals."

Professional Idiot: A Memoir, co-written by Steve-O in June 2011, was published by Steve-O. He adhered to a strict vegan diet and is one of the many celebrities involved in the NOH8 campaign. He was given the Nanci Alexander award by PETA in July for his "voice against cruelty." He said he was eating a vegan diet and that he did not wear fur or leather in 2013, despite his nascent concern about animal rights.

Steve-O revealed in December 2018 that he is no longer a vegetarian because he consumes fish and is a pescatarian. Steve-O spoke out against "militant" vegans in 2019, claiming that they do more harm than good.

On the podcast TigerBelly, with Bobby Lee and Khalyla Kuhn, Steve-O talked about his family life. Steve-O reveals that his mother suffered from an aneurysm on October 10, 1998, well before his ascension to fame. Steve-O claimed that the aneurysm caused significant cognitive and physical impairments, and she died in 2003.

Despite being separated from Steve-O's mother, his father recovered from England after suffering an aneurysm. Steve-O describes his father's decision to leave the hospital to mourn the fact that Steve-O's unusual career choice was not fully supported by him. Steve-O had not seen the success that the Jackass series would bring, which was a contrast to his father's corporate leadership career.
