Career
He appeared in the West End hit musical Blood Brothers in 1989. In 1990, he appeared in Johann Strauss' international mini-series The Strauss Dynasty. He produced, co-produced, and starred in The Hanging Gale, an award-winning BBC drama set in 1993. Sean Reynolds appeared in Emmerdale from 1999 to 2002.
In 2003, he appeared alongside Jamie Theakston in the hit West End play 'Art'. In 2006, he appeared as Reverend Shaw in the original West End cast of the musical Footloose. In BBC TV series Call the Midwife's Dr. Turner, he can now be seen playing Dr. Turner.

McGann was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Liverpool in July for his contributions to public health education and was a member of the 2019 Royal Society Insight Investment Science Book Prize judging panel.
