Stanton Moore (born July 9, 1972) is an American funk, jazz, and rock drummer from New Orleans.
Moore, the most well-known founding member of Galactic, has also pursued a solo recording career (beginning with his 1998 debut All Kooked Out). Corrosion of Conformity, a jazz-funk keyboardist Robert Walter, and classical metal band Corrosion of Conformity have all performed. He also travels to New Orleans to teach drumming, writes regularly for drumming journals, and creates instructional books and videos.
The Stanton Moore Drum Academy was established in 2017 by Moore.
Career
Moore was born in Metairie, suburban New Orleans.
Moore's latest projects include the Stanton Moore Trio, Garage A Trois, and the Midnite Disturbers. In New Orleans, Moore's Stanton Moore Trio features a number of local and visiting musicians. He has toured nationally with keyboardist Robert Walter and guitarist Will Bernard as a trio. Walter and Bernard, in addition, are the credited musicians on Moore's two most recent solo albums. Moore, Mike Dillon, and Marco Benevento remain to perform with his co-founded Garage A Trois. With drummer Kevin O'Day, Moore formed the all-star brass band Midnite Disturbers. Trombone Shorty and Jamelle Williams on trumpets, Big Sam and Mark Mullins on trombones, Ben Ellman and Skerik on saxophones, Jeffery Hills on sousaphone, and Kevin O'Day and Moore on drums are among the Midnite Disturbers, as well as Kevin O'Day and Moore on drums.
