Taylor Hawkins Life

Oliver Taylor Hawkins (born February 17, 1972) is an American singer best known as the drummer for the rock band Foo Fighters. He served as both the touring drummer and drummer in a progressive experimental band Sylvia before joining Alanis Morissette in 1997.

Hawkins founded Taylor Hawkins and the Coattail Riders in 2004, which he plays drums and sings.

The United Kingdom drumming magazine Rhythm named him "Best Rock Drummer" in 2005.

Early life

Oliver Taylor Hawkins was born in Fort Worth, Texas, on February 17, 1972. In 1976, his family migrated to Laguna Beach, California, where the Hawkins grew up. Hawkins was the youngest of three brothers and sisters, with older brother and sister Jason and Heather. He graduated from Laguna Beach High School in 1990, where he had been classmates with current Yes lead vocalist Jon Davison.

Personal life

Alison Hawkins and his partner, Lynn, married in 2005. They have three children together. They lived in Hidden Hills, California, after being pushed from Topanga Canyon in 2012.

Hawkins overdosed on heroin in August 2001, putting him in a coma for two weeks. Dave Grohl, Hawkins' bandmate and best friend, was laid in bed in London for two weeks before he awakened. Although Hawkins was in the hospital, Grohl said he was able to leave music. He also revealed in the 2011 documentary Foo Fighters: Back and Forth that he composed the song "On the Mend" from the band's 2005 album In Your Honor about Hawkins while in a coma. Hawkins said, "I was partying a lot." The incident occurred on Beats 1 host Matt Wilkinson in 2018. I wasn't a junkie, per se, but I was partying. The partying never got to be too heavy for a year. On some level, this guy gave me the wrong line with the wrong thing one night, and I awakened wondering, 'What the fuck happened?' "It was a dramatic turning point for me." Hawkins also said he was sober in the same interview.

Hawkins were afraid of stage fright. In a Rolling Stone magazine interview in June 2021, Hawkins spoke about his health: "I'm healthy." I'm fine... I get sinus infections. And, 'Dude, you're in excellent shape.' I just found out from my doctor, got all my blood tests, and my heart everything checked, and he says, 'Dude, you're in amazing shape.' Since you exercise a lot, your heart is a big deal. It's like a runner's heart.' And that's fine. The only thing is, he said, is, "I think you have sleep apnea." "You snore and you make strange sounds when you're sleeping and stuff," my wife says.

Taylor Hawkins Career

Career

Before becoming the drummer for Sass Jordan, Hawkins appeared in the Orange County-based band Sylvia.

Hawkins was Alanis Morissette's drummer from 1996 to 1997 on the tour promoting Jagged Little Pill and her Can't Do Not Tour. He appeared in "You Should Know," "All I Really Want," and "You Learn." Live on Morissette's VHS/DVD Jagged Little Pill, 1997.

Foo Fighters recorded their second album in a Seattle studio with producer Gil Norton after touring through the spring of 1996. During recording, a rivalry between Dave Grohl and drummer William Goldsmith erupted, eventually causing Goldsmith to leave the band. Grohl on drums reformed the band in Los Angeles and almost re-recorded the album. The Colour and the Shape album was released on May 20, 1997. Grohl called Hawkins, a close friend at the time, to ask if a new drummer would join the band. Grohl was under the impression that Hawkins would not leave Morissette's touring band because she was a bigger act than Foo Fighters at the time. Hawkins, to Grohl's surprise, decided to join the band himself, explaining that he preferred to be a drummer in a rock band rather than a solo artist. Hawkins announced on March 18, 1997 that they would be their new drummer. Hawkins appeared in the Foo Fighters' music video for 1997's "Monkey Wrench," although the song was not released before he joined the band.

On some songs during Foo Fighters live shows, including a recreation of Queen's "Somebody To Love" on his last concert with the band, he performed lead vocals.
