Early life and education
Sofia Helin was born in Hovsta, Nuerke, and she was born in rebro, Hovsta. Her father was a salesman, and her mother was a nurse. When she was ten days old, her grandmother and her six-year-old brother were in a car accident; her grandmother survived, but her brother was killed. She attended Calle Flygares theatre school and graduated from the Stockholm Theatre Academy in 2001. She was born in Linghem, just south of Linköping, but in 2015 she was living in Stockholm.
Personal life
Helin is married to Daniel Götschenhjelm, a priest in Sweden and a former actor who appeared at drama school. She has two children, Ossian, 19 years old, and Nike, a 13-year-old girl (as of 26 October 2022). Helin is a Christian.

Career
In the film At Point Blank (Rnarna) in 2003, Helin appeared as Chief Inspector Klara. She was nominated for a Guldbagge award in 2004 and played Mia in Masjölar. In 2007, she was the leading role in Cecilia Algotter in Arn, a Jan Guillou's The Knight Templar's sequel to Arn Magnusson. She appeared in the Swedish animated film Metropia (2009).
When the first series of the highly praised TV crime drama series The Bridge premiered in Sweden in 2012, she became well-known outside of Sweden. Saga Norén, a Malmö homicide detective, appeared in it. The show attracted more than a million viewers per episode in the United Kingdom, and she was dubbed a role model for women with Asperger syndrome. In 2018, the fourth season of the show aired.
She appeared in a Danish science fiction film called Fang Rung in 2015. She appeared in both German and English in the same year. The film was shot in Prague.
In series 2 of the Australian television crime drama Mystery Road, Helin plays an archaeologist.
