Slava Rakaj (pronounced Slava Rashkay) was a Croatian painter who was known as one of the best Croatian watercolorists of the late 19th and early 20th century.
Ra'kaj was educated in Vienna and Zagreb, where her mentor, the well-known Croatian painter Bela Ciko Sesija, was deaf since birth.
Her works were on display in Europe in the 1890s, including at the 1900 Expo in Paris.
Rakj was diagnosed with acute depression in her twenties and was institutionalized for the next three years of her life before succumbing to tuberculosis in Zagreb in 1906.
