Shilpa Shetty Kundra (born 8 June 1975) is an Indian actress known for her work in Hindi films in comparison to Kannada, Telugu, and Tamil films. Shetty made her acting debut with Baazigar (1993), following which she appeared in the action comedy Main Khiladi Tu Anari (1994), both of which were commercial successes.

She appeared in several films that didn't do well at the box office, and Dhadkan (2000) was a turning point.

Phir Milenge (2004), Life in a... Metro (2007) and Kannada drama Auto Shankar began her life. Following an international racial election, Shetty became a global celebrity after winning the 2007 British reality television series Celebrity Big Brother 5 with 63% of the final vote.

Raj Kundra, a reputable businessman from Shetty, married her in 2009, with whom she has a son.

Early life

Shetty was born in Mangalore, Karnataka, into a Tulu-speaking Bunt family. Sunanda Shetty, her mother, and late father Surendra Shetty were both manufacturers of tamper-proof water caps in the pharmaceutical industry. Shamita Shetty's elder sister is the first cousin of her sister. During a visit to a fashion show in Dhaka, where she also discussed her future plans on visiting her ancestral homestead in Sylhet and appearing in a Bangladeshi film, Shetty revealed her Bengali ancestry in 2016.

Shilpa Shetty Career

Acting career

Shetty signed for and began working on her first film, Gaata Rahe Mera Dil, directed by Dilip Naik, which tells the tale of a woman trapped in a love triangle involving two guys (played by Ronit Roy and Rohit Roy). However, the film went unreleased, ensuring Shetty's debut in Abbas-Mustan's thriller Baazigar, alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol. The film, based on the Hollywood film A Kiss Before Dying (1956), starred Shetty in the supporting role of Seema Chopra, a girl who is murdered by her revenge-seeking boyfriend played by Khan. Baazigar was a big box office hit and ended up as the fourth-highest-grossing film of the year. Both the film and Shetty's performances received critical esteem; Shetty received awards for Best Supporting Actress and Lux New Face of the Year (now known as Best Female Debut) at the annual Filmfare Awards ceremony.

Shetty had three film debuts in 1994. Aag, she's first film appearance in, was her first release of the year. Govinda and Sonali Bendre, co-starring Shetty, Bijli, a village belle who is actually a plainclothes policewoman and was told to arrest a murderer (played by Govinda) at any price. Aag's performance as a moderate box office success and received mixed critical feedback, as did Shetty's. In the action comedy Main Khiladi Tu Anari, Shetty Kumar, Saif Ali Khan, Raageshwari, and Shakti Kapoor appeared alongside Shetty Kumar, Akshay Kumar, Shakhdar, and Shakti Kapoor. Shetty portrayed Mona (both a cabaret dancer and a gangster's girlfriend) and her look-alike Basanti (a village belle) in the film. The film, which characterized Shetty's first of many collaborations with Kumar, was a smash at the box office. Both the film and Shetty's appearance have received soaring critical acclaim; Main Khiladi Tu Anari's triumph was a revelation for Shetty; Aao Pyaar Karen, Saif Ali Khan's third and final film release this year, was her third and final release of the year. At the box office, the film, which narrates a wealthy man's maid's love tale, fell on the floor.

Shetty appeared in Hathkadi, where she was collaborating with actors like Saif Ali Khan, Govinda, and Madhoo, but the box office didn't work there. With 1996, she made her Tamil film debut with the addition of actress Prabhu Deva and Madhoo. At the box office, the film was a sleeper musical hit. 1997 was one of her busiest years: she appeared in six films, beginning with the Telugu-language film Veedevadandi Babu. Auzaar's first big Bollywood film of the year was the action thriller. Prathna Thakur was portrayed by Shilpa alongside actor Salman Khan and Sanjay Kapoor. Pardesi Babu, her first film role, received critical acclaim and was named Best Supporting Actress for her role in the film in 1998.

Shetty was awarded an award for her work in Dhadkan, which earned good sums at the Indian box office in 2000. Several nominations have been received in award ceremonies under the Best Actress category. She would appear in the film Rishtey (2002) with Anil Kapoor and Karisma Kapoor. Her comedic appearance as an eccentric fisherwoman was lauded, and she was nominated for the Best Supporting Actress award by the Filmfare Award in addition to nominations for Best Comedian as well.

Shetty appeared in Garv in 2004, portraying a Muslim orphanage and disillusioned table dancer starring Salman Khan. Shetty said she chose the film because she loved the subject. The film was a police drama. She has received acclaim for her role in Phir Milenge, where she gave a subtle portrayal of a wealthy city high-flyer who contracts HIV from unprotected sex and becomes a social outcast as a result. The film, which was based on 1993's Philadelphia, was reported to have tackled a social taboo that was still unaddressed by Bollywood. Shetty was given a Best Actress nomination by the film's jury, as well as an honor for her HIV-related charity work (see below). "Phir Milenge belongs to Shetty entirely," film critic Taran Adarsh told IndiaFM. She gives "the result of her career," as it should be correctly referred to. This was a departure from the previous trend of superficial song-and-dance items in favour of roles with greater depth of character, as shown by her film Dus (2005), an action thriller. Shetty said she had reinvented herself by portraying the somewhat eccentric personality of an anti-terrorist squad member, despite receiving average returns at the box office.

Shetty starred opposite Upendra in the Kannada film Auto Shankar in 2005. The film was a huge box office success, and it earned her the title "The Gabbar Singh of the South" due to her villainous role in the film. She appeared in the film Fareb with her younger sister Shamita Shetty the same year. In 2006, Shetty had just one release, the much-awaited Shaadi Karke Phas Gaya Yaar. The film was a box office flop, but she received raves for her role as a not entirely likable wife. She appeared on Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, a Sony TV dance competition based on the original UK show Strictly Come Dancing, from Farah Khan and Sanjay Leela Bhansali in 2006.

Shetty appeared in Mani Ratnam's stage show Netru, Indru, Naalai.

2007 was Shetty's most fruitful year at the box office. Life in a... Metro, her first film, received rave critical feedback and became London's first Bollywood movie to premiere at Leicester Square. The film did well at the box office and was deemed a semi-hit within three weeks of its release. In addition, Shetty's role was highly praised and Shetty's performance was lauded, with CNN-IBN's Rajeev Masand saying: "It's a fantastic show and unquestionably Shetty's best to date." Apne's second release, alongside three Deols (Dharmendra, Sunny and Bobby), was also a box office hit.

Shetty appeared in the unreleased 2010 Indo-Chinese film The Desire, a film that was rescued by her mother who stepped in when the project's producer abandoned it unfinished.

Shetty's only appearance on film during her break was in the 2014 film Dishkiyaoon, where she appeared in the song 'Tu Mere Type Ka Nahi Hai'. With the 2021 film Hungama 2, which received largely critical feedback, she made her return to film after 14 years.

Shetty will appear in Nikamma with Abhimanyu Dassani and Shirley Setia. She will also be seen leading her own film Sukhee with Amit Sadh in her forthcoming women-centric film Sukhee. Shetty will make her internet debut with Rohit Shetty's 'Indian Police Force,' as the first female cop in his Cop universe. Sidharth Malhotra will appear alongside her.

An inside look at the world's most safe jails, in which it's IMPOSSIBLE to escape

www.dailymail.co.uk, March 16, 2023
Millions of prisoners are incarcerated in some of the world's highest security detention facilities, which are operated with military precision. Many of the maximum-security jails are held in the highest regard, with few ever being in breach by an inmate, but that hasn't stopped some from trying. Some of the country's toughest jails include Joaqun 'El Chapo' Guzmán, Mexico's Sinaloa drug cartel's leader, and Unabomber 'Ted' Kaczynski, 79. Prisoner locks are among the items that hold prisoners in their cells. CCTV cameras that track prisoners 24/7, wirelessly operated doors, gesture sensors, and perimeter fences are just a few of the items that keep prisoners locked up in their cells. Some prisoners are allowed to speak at mealtimes, while others provide a platform for stripping people of their individuality - often without referring to them by their names. DailyMail.com investigates the more impenetrable prisons around the world as El Salvador prepares to welcome another wave of violent criminals yet again.
