Early life
Bahar was born in Tehran, Iran, to a devout Persian-Jewish family. During the Islamic Revolution of Iran, she and her parents and sister, Saba Soomekh, moved to Los Angeles, California, United States. Soomekh attended Sinai Akiba Academy and Beverly Hills High School.
Bahar enrolled in Santa Barbara, California, later this year. She received a B.A. degree in 1997. Environmental studies are also included.
Personal life
In 2001, Bahar married Clayton Frech. The couple have three children. Ezra Frech, one of their children, was born with a disability. He was a double silver medalist in the Parapan American Games in 2019 and was selected as a finalist for the 2014 Sports Illustrated SportsKid of the Year.
Career
Soomekh, who graduated from UCSB, spent time in motivational sales while attending acting lessons. Soomekh guest appeared on several television shows, including JAG and 24, from the start of her acting career. She left her day job to pursue acting full time and landed her Crash role less than three months later.
In the Academy Award-winning film for Best Picture, Crash, Soomekh's breakthrough role came as Dorri. People magazine named Soomekh as "New on the Scene" following her success in Crash. She continued with her appearances in Mission: Impossible III and Syriana. Lynn Denlon played a prominent role in the horror film Saw III in 2006. Soomekh appeared in numerous films including Day Break and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. In Just Like a Woman, her last film role was played.
Soomekh decided to pursue a real estate career to remain close to her family after losing film industry jobs to other locations in the Southern California area.
