Shelley Catherine Hennig (born January 2, 1987) is an American model and actress.

She is a beauty pageant titleholder who held the Miss Teen USA 2004 title.

She played Stephanie Johnson on Days of Our Lives and starred in the CW series The Secret Circle as Diana Meade.

She played the character Malia Tate in Teen Wolf.

Hennig also starred in horror films Unfriended as Blaire Lily and Ouija as Debbie Galardi.

She has been nominated for two Emmys for her role on Days of Our Lives.

She has also won a 2016 Teen Choice Award.

Early life

Hennig was born in Metairie, Louisiana, on January 2, 1987, the daughter of Cathy Distefano Gosset and Glenn H. Hennig Sr. She lived in St. Rose, Louisiana, and later moved to Destrehan, Louisiana. Three years before she won the Miss Teen USA title, one of her older brothers was killed in an accident caused by a drunk driver.

In a state pageant held in Lafayette, Louisiana, in November 2003, Hennig received the Miss Louisiana Teen USA 2004. This was the first time she had competed in a state pageant. In the Miss Teen USA 2004, which was held in Palm Springs, California, she represented Louisiana. Ali won the Miss Teen USA championship, becoming Louisiana's first winner and the first girl from Louisiana to win a national title since Ali Landry was Miss USA 1996. Her Miss Teen USA honors included a one-year modeling contract with Trump Modeling Services as well as a a scholarship to the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts.

Hennig, the Miss Universe Organization's Miss Teen USA, was a member of Team USA. Jennifer Hawkins (Miss Universe, of Australia) and Shandi Finnessey (Miss USA, of Missouri), who made appearances on a trip to Bangkok, Thailand, were her sister 2004 title holders. Hennig made numerous television appearances and public speaking appearances, including a guest appearance in the NBC soap opera Passions, which was part of her prize package. Hennig has worked with a variety of other non-profit groups, including Seeds of Peace, DARE, Sparrow Clubs, and SHiNE. Her reign came to an end on August 8, 2005, when she crowned Allie LaForce of Ohio as the country montagne king. Hennig appeared on MTV's The Truth Show, shortly after she relinquished her crown, where she attempted to win her own show, After the Crown, but was disqualified. On August 16, 2008, she and co-host Seth Goldman hosted the Miss Teen USA 2008 pageant.

Hennig appeared in Days of Our Lives in the role of Stephanie Johnson on April 20, 2007. She was nominated for the 37th Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series category in 2010. Hennig announced that Days of Our Lives was the end of her life on January 18, 2011. "It just feels right," she wrote in Soap Opera Digest. I've been planning for this for a while, so I've shared my mental well-byes. I will miss the faces I see every day, but everyone has been really encouraging and has accepted my decision. After last week's show airs, I feel like I'm going out with a bang, and I'm grateful to the writers for that. It's been a lot of fun to play, and I wouldn't change anything."

Diana Meade, a central character in the TV series The Secret Circle, was born from 2011 to 2012, based on L. J. Smith's books. The series would not be returning for a second season on May 11, 2012. She debuted as Christy in MTV's series Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous. After a season of cancellation, the program was cancelled.

Hennig debuted on MTV's Teen Wolf as Malia Tate in the third season. She was promoted to series regular for the fourth season and stayed on the program until it was ended in 2017. At the 2016 Teen Choice Awards, she was recognized for her portrayal of Malia. She appeared in Blumhouse horror films Ouija and Unfriended in 2014. She appeared on "Gentle on My Mind"'s music video as well. In 2017, she appeared in "I Could Use a Love Song" by country music artist Maren Morris. Carrie Grey, a photographer in Netflix's romantic comedy When We First Met in 2018, she appeared in 2018. Hennig appeared in a forthcoming NBC comedy pilot Crazy for You on March 10, 2020, playing a leading role. Rachele Lynn, a television presenter who is best known for her appearance on Saturday Night Live, was supposed to produce the pilot. At the time, the series's release date was uncertain.
