Shawn Mathis Wayans (born January 19, 1971) is an American actor, musician, writer, and comedian who appeared in In Living Color, The Wayans Bros., and White Chicks.
He is the brother of Dwayne, Marlon, Keenen Ivory, Damon Sr., Kim, Ebony R. Hemphill-Wayans, and Ryan A. Wayans.
Early life
Wayans, the ninth of ten siblings, was born in New York City, New York, and the son of Elvira Alethia (Green), a homemaker and social worker, and Howell Stouten Wayans, a supermarket manager. He and his family were once Jehovah's Witnesses. Wayans grew up in Chelsea's Fulton Houses and is a 1989 graduate of Bayard Rustin High School for the Humanities.
Career
He began on Fox's In Living Color as DJ SW-1 and then became a featured performer, associating with brothers Dwayne, Keenen (the show's producer), Damon, Marlon, and sister Kim.
In the comedy Don't Be a Manace to South Central (The Wayans Bros, 1995-1999) and coauthored, coproduced, and starred. Drinking Your Juice in the Hood (1996), in which Keenen also appeared. With Mr. Cooper, the Wayans guest appeared on MacGyver and Hangin' and Toof's animated children's series Waynehead (based on brother Damon's real life childhood experiences).
Wayans' film fortunes increased after he co-starred with their brother Marlon in a hit film directed by their older brother Keenen (1999–2000), a comedic satire that also co-authored) on the then-popular trend of horror films such as Scream.
Wayans played Ray Wilkins, a role he reprised in the similarly popular 2001 sequel Scary Movie 2. Wayans haven't had any involvement in subsequent sequels to date.
When he and Marlon appeared in the Keenen-directed comedy White Chicks (2004), portraying two spoiled white blonde heiresses disguised as spoiled white blonde heiresses. Shawn also received a piece of the film's story and screenplay credits. Wayans appeared in, co-wrote, and co-produced the 2006 comedy Little Man, which Wayans appeared in, co-wrote, and co-produced.
