Early life

Sarah Jessica Parker was born in Nelsonville, Ohio, the granddaughter of Barbara Parker (née Keck), a nursery-school operator and tutor, and Stephen Parker, an entrepreneur and journalist. She was one of eight children from her parents' union and her mother's second marriage; her full siblings included actors Timothy Britten Parker and Pippin Parker. Parker's parents divorced when she was 3-12 years old, and her mother married Paul Forste, a truck driver and account executive. Stephen, a Brooklyn transplant, is Jewish (from a family in Eastern Europe) and his family's first surname was "Bar-Kahn" ("son of Kohen"). Barbara is of German and some English descents. Parker has connected culturally with her father's faith, Judaism, but she has no religious education. Parker's parents were struggling to help their large family; oftentimes, the gas would be cut off, or the family would have to forego Christmases and birthdays due to a lack of funds. However, she has stated: "I would not change any of it" for the most part, but we had everything we needed." Well, not always, but for the most part." Parker's mother immersed her children in culture and extracurricular activities. Many women were led by her to free public institutions such as the ballet and the theater in Cincinnati, so they lived "fully rich lives" emulating the New York artistic scene.

Parker, a young girl, trained in singing and ballet and was soon cast in William Archibald's revival of The Innocents. Her family migrated to Cincinnati and then to Dobbs Ferry, New York, near New York City, so she could get specialized training. Parker's mother and stepfather all supported her in her career as a child actress. The family moved to Roosevelt Island, on the East River between Manhattan and Queens, in 1977, and later to Manhattan. Parker attended Dwight Morrow High School in Englewood, New Jersey, where they later moved to Englewood, New Jersey.

Parker studied at the School of American Ballet in New York City, the School of Performing Arts in Cincinnati, and Hollywood High School in Los Angeles.

Personal life

Parker had a friendship with actor Robert Downey Jr. from 1984 to 1991. They met on the set of Firstborn. Downey had a heroin problem that affected their family life. "I assumed I was the one holding him together," Parker said. She then briefly dated John F. Kennedy Jr.

In an Episcopal service attended by Broderick's sister, Janet Broderick Kraft, Parker married Matthew Broderick in Lower East Side, Manhattan's Lower East Side on May 19, 1997. Parker and Broderick were both introduced by one of Parker's brothers at the Naked Angels theater company, where Parker and Broderick appeared. The two were married in a civil synagogue on Manhattan's Lower East Side. James was born on October 28, 2002. Marion and Tabitha, Parker and Broderick's twin daughters, were born on June 22, 2009, via survivacy. Elwell and Hodge's middle names are from Parker's mother's family tree, which Parker discovered while researching her ancestry for the first episode of Who Do You Think You Are?, which first aired on March 5, 2010. In the appearance, she found she had ancestors who were interested in the California Gold Rush of 1849-1850 and the Salem witch trials of 1692.

Parker has been living in Greenwich Village with her husband and children since 2009. The couple had been rumored to marry two townhouses on West 11th Street in 2016, with renovations continuing into 2019. The family lives near Kilcar, a village in County Donegal, Ireland, where Broderick spent summers as a child.

Sarah Jessica Parker Career

Career

At the outdoor Municipal Theatre (Muny) in St. Louis, Missouri, Parker and four siblings appeared in a production of The Sound of Music by Parker and his four siblings. She was chosen for a part in Annie's new 1977–81 Broadway musical Annie: first in the small role of "July" and then moving Andrea McArdle and Shelley Bruce in the lead role of the Depression-era orphanage, beginning in March 1979. Parker served as the director for a year. Parker appeared in 1982 in the lead role of the CBS sitcom Square Pegs, which lasted just one season. critics also lauded her performance as a shy teen with a mysterious depths. Parker appeared in four films in the three years that followed: the most notable being Footloose (1984) and Girls Just Want to Have Fun (1985), with Helen Hunt. Parker appeared in Flight of the Navigator, a Disney science fiction film released in 1986.

Parker played a ditzy aspirant spokesmodel in L.A.'s (1991) and received raves; both the film and her performance received praise. In the Disney fantasy family comedy Hocus Pocus (1993), she will appear alongside Nicolas Cage as the girlfriend of a commitment-phobe man (1992) and play one in a tymie trio of witches alongside Bette Midler and Kathy Najimy. Honeymoon in Vegas was a critical success, grossing US$35 million with reviewers and making US$39 million, but it became a cult film due to strong DVD sales and a large television audience. She appeared in 1993, 1993, as Bruce Willis' female counterpart, and in 1994, she appeared opposite Johnny Depp in the critically acclaimed biographical drama Dolores Fuller as the titular character's girlfriend. She appeared in the off-Broadway play Sylvia (1995), playing a woman who has some misgivings about her fiancée and starring future husband Matthew Broderick.

She appeared in another Tim Burton-directed film, Mars Attacks!, in which she appeared alongside Jack Nicholson, Glenn Close, Pierce Brosnan, and others, depicting a chat-show host whose head is replaced by the invaded aliens of her chihua. Parker appeared in the romantic comedy The First Wives Club as a dim-witted but manipulative fiancée, as well as reunite with Hocus Pocus collaborator Bette Midler. The film was a critical darling and a huge commercial success, grossing US$105 million at the North American box office, and it established a cult following among middle-aged women. The Subpoena of Fire, her other 1996 film appearance, was released. In the little-known comedy 'Til There Was You,' Parker appeared as a washed-up former child actor in 1997.

Sex and the City, HBO's dramedy series, was sent to Parker. The show, set in New York City and based on Candace Bushnell's 1997 book of the same name, follows four women—three in their mid-thirties and one in her forties—who, despite their varying personalities and ever-changing schedules, remain inseparable and confide in each other. Darren Star, the project's creator, wanted her for the role, and although there were concerns about being cast in a long-running television series, Parker agreed to act. Carrie Bradshaw, the narrator and main protagonist, had her role in writing her weekly column "Sex and the City" for the fictional newspaper, The New York Star, with each episode themed around her train of thought. During the show's run and in the years immediately after, the reaction was positive. During the series's airing of the film, her character became well known, and she was later recognized as one of America's finest female characters. "Carrie Bradshaw did as much to change the culture around certain women's issues as real-life female groundbreakers," The Guardian named Bradshaw as a symbol of the decade. Parker's work was recognized with two Emmy Awards, three Screen Actor Guild Awards, and four Golden Globe Awards for her work.

Parker appeared in late 2005 in the seasonal family film The Family Stone, a dramedy set in which she portrayed an uptight, contemporary New York City career woman, in which she reunited with First Wives Club co-star Diane Keaton for her first film in years. "The talented cast helps," James Berardinelli wrote in his review. Sarah Jessica Parker, who discovered that life after Sex in the city, has no issues with [her character]'s arc. She makes the most significant changes in the film, out of all the characters, and Parker aces it." With a global income of over US$92 million, it was a commercial success. She was nominated for her role in Best Actress – Comedy at the Golden Globe Awards. Matthew McConaughey, a romantic comedian hired to get a 35-year-old man out of the house of his parents, was her next film, "Failure to Launch." Despite poor reviews, it was unveiled on March 10, 2006, and it soared in the North American box office, grossing over US$24 million in the first weekend. She continued as an actress with her next acting role, Spinning into Butter, based on Rebecca Gilman's play. At the Sundance Film Festival, Parker played a sympathetic doctor, opposite Dennis Quaid and Elliot Page.

Following the closure of Sex and the City, rumors of a film version circulated before a production was revived in 2007, and the film was released on May 30, 2008. In 2010, Sex and the City 2 were the first two sequels to be published. Despite lukewarm critical reactions, both films were commercially successful. Parker teamed up with Hugh Grant for the romantic comedy Did You Hear About the Morgans? (2009), playing a recently divorced New York power couple on the verge of divorce until they witness the murder of a man. Although the film was a modest commercial success, Parker received a Razzie Award nomination for Worst Actress and Roger Ebert, panning the film. "I grant Hugh Grant and Sarah Parker invoke charm in the right screenplay." This is the wrong screenplay. Parker appeared in I Don't Know How She Does It, a Hollywood comedy with a hopelessly outdated gender skeleton cast, as well as a large ensemble cast in Garry Marshall's romantic comedy Eve (2011), which earned US$142 million worldwide, and Sarah Jessica Parker in rote Carrie-mode. She received awards for Sex and the City 2 in 2011 for her 2011 appearances.

Isabelle Wright, a Vogue executive who takes Kurt Hummel under her wing after he graduates and moves to New York, appeared on season 4 of FOX's musical comedy series Glee. Sarah Jessica Parker, who is a big-eyed but a little broken inside and desperately in love with New York, said on one of its recaps of Glee. I don't think her stint on Glee will revolutionize the show or her work, or something, but she's certainly an asset, and I'm glad she's onboard. Parker appeared in deleted scenes of the biographical drama Lovelace in 2013, and she played Gloria Steinem in one of the characters of the animated film Escape from Planet Earth. She appeared in the independent romantic comedy All Roads Lead to Rome in 2015 as an American journalist returning to Italy with her rebellious daughter.

Parker executive, Tony Burke, created and starred in the HBO drama Divorce as Frances Dufresne, a married woman whose affair caused her divorce, beginning in late-2016. "I like that Frances is very real to me," she said as she entered the "complexity and promise" of the tale. She's both honorable and tumultuous. She is both exacting and untethered, but I think she's a very real person." Critics praised the series for three seasons; The A.V. "Parker's gift, even on Sex and the City, has always been a well-timed comeback or a reaction shot," the club said. [Her character] is not a recreation of Carrie Bradshaw, but she does not specifically order the actor to leave her comfort zone. That's not necessarily a bad thing: it's a pleasure to see her back, shaking her head at the right time." She was given a Golden Globe nomination for her work.

Parker wrote and produced the independent drama Here and Now, portraying a New York City singer with a life-changing medical diagnosis.

Parker and her partner, Broderick, appeared in a revival of Neil Simon's Plaza Suite at Boston's Colonial Theatre for two weeks in February 2020. Until the COVID-19 pandemic, previews at the Hudson Theatre had been planned for March 2020 and the official debut had been scheduled for April 2020, but it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The previews are now scheduled to debut on February 28, 2022, after several delays, with the official debut scheduled for March 28, 2022.

And Just Like That..., the Sex and the City revival, was confirmed by HBO Max in January 2021. On December 9, 2021, the first series premiered on December 9, 2021.

As Sex And The City arrives on Netflix, we couldn't help but wonder why Carrie Bradshaw and friend were once considered fashion icons

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 22, 2024
In the 1990s and early noughties, HBO's Sex and the City dominated the world of fashion at the time, as well as the romantic comedy scene in the film industry. The excitement of single women in their thirties navigating their way around relationships, careers and friendship in New York City is enough to draw anyone in.  And now the series has been exposed to a whole range of people after it was put on Netflix, with younger Gen Z and millennial viewers experiencing the show for the very first time - and the bizarre outfits in all their glory. But revisiting the show today proves that some of the outfits worn by Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda did not ooze style but were rather shockingly impractical and outlandish. Here Femail reveals some of the worst fashion disasters from the Sex and the City franchise that might you rethink using the show for style inspiration.

KENNEDY: We all know why blubbery bistro blowhard Keith McPiggy branded perpetual trout-pout Lauren Sanchez 'revolting'...

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 17, 2024
Maybe he's a lonely leprechaun looking for his four-leafed clover (divorced since 2018). But McNally's sordid smears have now sagged lower than his man teats. He's posted pic after sumptuous pic of Lauren's sensual blowup doll lips, overflowing water balloons and curvy hip meat. No doubt McNasty wishes he had such a primed and plumped dame as his catch of the day. But a man - who looks like the extruded byproduct of a blasphemous union of a sloth and Gru - should probably put the insults on a simmer.
