Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno (born 28 June 1969) is an Indonesian businessman, investor, and politician who served as the Deputy Governor of Jakarta.
In the 2017 Jakarta gubernatorial election, he was elected alongside Anies Baswedan and Djakar Tjahok ("widely known as "Ahok") and Djarot Saiful Hidayat.
He resigned from the office to run as Prabowo Subianto's running mate in the 2019 Indonesian presidential election. Sandiaga, a graduate of George Washington University, worked in various industries and rose in rank before establishing his own company, making him one of Indonesia's richest people.
In 2015, he resigned from his companies to join Gerindra.
On his appointment as vice president, he also renounced his participation in Prabowo's Gerindra as part of the agreement with coalition forces.
Career
Sandi Uno graduated from Wichita State University in 1990 and George Washington University with an MBA in 1992, paid by William Soerjaja because his mother knew the Astra International group founders personally. In 1990, he began his career with Summa Bank. In 1994, he joined MP Group Holding Limited as an investment manager. In the ensuing year, he began working for NTI Resources Ltd in Canada and spent as an Executive Vice President. The 1997 financial crisis blasted NTI Resources Ltd and led to its administration, leaving him homeless.
He co-founded PT in 1997. Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, a high school friend, joined Recapital Advisors with his High School colleague. Edwin Soeryadjaya, the son of William Soerjadjaja, co-founded Saratoga Capital the following year. Both companies are still flourishing today. According to Forbes magazine, he grew his businesses by purchasing a majority (51%) stake in Mandala Airlines in May 2011. According to Forbes, he was ranked as the 47th richest man in Indonesia in 2013.

In mid-2015, he decided to leave the corporate world and enter politics. He officially resigned from various roles in 16 Saratoga and Recapital's subsidiaries from April to July 2015. After Prabowo, he rose to the second highest position in the Gerindra party as vice chairman of the board of supervisors. His name was first considered by Gerindra to be nominated in the 2017 Jakarta gubernatorial election.

Gerindra and PKS have agreed to remain in the coalition, selecting former Education Minister Anies Baswedan as their candidate and Sandiaga Uno as their running mate. Sandi said he had suggested Baswedan to Prabowo because he felt that Baswedan would be more suitable for the role.
Following his election, which an editorial characterized as "the most polarizing and most divisive the country has ever seen in Indonesian political history," and Ahok's detention, he was appointed deputy governor on October 16, 2017.
He was accused of paying opposition parties PAN and PKS Rp 500 billion (US$35 million) per year to endorse him as Prabowo Subianto's vice presidential nominee in 2018. Despite that, he resigned from his position to run in the 2018 election on August 10. The resignation was announced on September 18, 2018.
Sandiaga did not hold office until he was appointed Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy in 2020 after Prabowo's defeat in the 2019 election.
