Dana White Life

Dana Frederick White Jr. (born July 28, 1969) is an American businessman and the current President of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), the country's largest mixed martial arts (MMA) group.

The UnitedFC has developed into a worldwide success multibillion-dollar business under White's leadership, and as of August 2019, White's net worth stood at $500 million.

Early life and education

Dana White Sr. was born in Manchester, Connecticut, and June was born on July 28, 1969. He is an Irishman. White spent much of his youth in Ware, Massachusetts.

The majority of their childhoods, White and his sister, Kelly, were raised by their mother and their extended family. Since White's mother was a nurse, the family moved to Las Vegas as a result of higher wages for nurses. White attended Bishop Gorman High School, where he first encountered Lorenzo Fertitta, but not until years later that they became close friends. White said he disliked school and "was kicked out of Gorman twice." Despite living in Nevada, the Whites returned to the East Coast in the summers to spend time with White's grandparents in Levant, Maine, a tiny town near Bangor. White attended high school in Maine for his senior year.

After graduating from Hermon High School in 1987, White attended college twice, once at Quincy College and once at UMass Boston, but he dropped out during his first semester each semester. During this period, he had various jobs, including laying asphalt, serving as a bouncer in an Irish bar, and being a bellhop at the Boston Harbor Hotel. At the age of 17, White had started boxing and befriended former Golden Gloves champion Peter Welch. White decided he wanted to join the fight industry through this friendship, and he and Welch formed a boxing gym in Boston. White set out to become a professional boxer, but was turned off after seeing a punch inebriated boxer and fearing that the same neurodegeneration would occur. After that time, White worked as a boxercise coach.

After being threatened by mobster Whitey Bulger and his associate Kevin Weeks, White has reported that he left Boston to return to Las Vegas. "You owe us money," the guy said. It was like $2,500, which was like $25,000 to me back then, and it read: 'You owe us money,' It was actually a guy named Kevin Weeks... he's Whitey's right-hand man. I'm positive he's in the film but I'm sure he's not wealthy, and I certainly didn't pay him. This went on for a long time, and one day I was at my desk, they said, 'You owe us the money by 1 o'clock tomorrow.' I literally hung up the phone, picked up the phone, and called Delta and bought a ticket to Vegas."

White, Lorenzo Fertitta and his older brother Frank Fertitta III, all continued running boxercise gyms and also started training jiu-jitsu under John Lewis in Las Vegas. It was during White's trainings that they met Tito Ortiz and Chuck Liddell, and eventually became their boss.

Personal life

When they were in the eighth grade, White met Anne (née Stella), and they married in 1996. They have two sons, Dana III and Aidan, as well as Savannah's one daughter. Anne is protective of her personal information and avoids the public eye. In 2006, White purchased a mansion in Pine Island Court, Las Vegas, from Frank Fertitta III for $1.95 million. For a total of about $6.2 million, White purchased three other mansions in the same area from October 2016 to June 2017. Demolition licenses were obtained for the houses, presumably with the intention of constructing a mega-mansion for White and his family.

White was raised as a Catholic, but now sees himself as an atheist.

Dana White, the King of MMA: An Unauthorized Biography of White's Mother, was published in 2011. Dana had "turned his back on his family and friends who were there for him when he needed help and assistance," June wrote in the book.

White purchased around $60,000 worth of Katana swords, including one of Rick Harrison's 17th-century Katana in a season 15 episode (originally airing on February 5, 2018).

White is a fan of the Beastie Boys, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Rage Against the Machine. "I haven't been affected by a death in a long time as I was with the Beastie Boys," White said. All three members of the Beastie Boys have a hand-signed guitar in his office, as well as a copy of the Beastie Boys Book on the table.

White spoke at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, Ohio, where he endorsed Republican nominee Donald Trump. When other venues refused to host the UFC, White said that he helped the UFC start by allowing the UFC to host its first event under Zuffa control (UFC 30) at the Trump Taj Mahal. "No arenas needed us," White said. "This guy came out, and he's always been a mentor to me." At a Trump reelection rally in Colorado, White reiterated his support for Trump for the 2020 race. White donated $1 million to America First Action, a super political advocacy group that endorsed Trump's re-election bid in February 2020. In April 2020, White joined a group of business executives to help the United States restore its economic growth after the coronavirus pandemic had wreaked havoc on the country.

When an exotic dancer allegedly taped a sexual encounter with White in Brazil around the year 2014 without his permission, White was implicated in a sex tape scandal. During his marriage, the stripper alleged that White had been seeing her for months. The stripper's live-in boyfriend then attempted to extort money from White, resulting in a criminal lawsuit against her boyfriend.

A civil lawsuit against White was filed in Nevada on April 3, 2020, charging that he offered the boyfriend money to convince him to commit a felony, which White denied. According to the allegation, White charged $10,000 to the stripper to dance and have sex with him. The case was dismissed on October 7, 2020.

White revealed in May 2012 that he had been diagnosed with Ménière's disease, a neurological disorder. "It's like vertigo but on steroids," he said. White argues that the disease was brought on as a result of a big fight he was involved in when he was a youth.

The first time he had missed in 11 years was through white staying home and adhering to medical advice.

White is under Orthokine treatment for Ménière's disease, which he says has significantly reduced his symptoms.

White had undergone medical examination and was diagnosed with elevated triglyceride levels and other anomalies in 2022. If he did not solve the problems, he had 10.4 years to live. Since then, White said he has adhered to a ketogenic diet, which he claims has improved his sleep apnea and eased his leg pain.

White is a recreational gambler. He plays high-stakes blackjack, but has been barred from playing at multiple casinos in Las Vegas. He claims he plays $75,000 a hand, and if he wins the first couple of hands, he takes the $150,000 profit and leaves. White is also a sports fan. In 2021, he said the best sports bet he made was on Jermain Taylor to over Kelly Pavlik. Taylor lost the contest due to a technical glitch, and White said about the experience, "I was in Cabo, having fun." That was defaming my enjoyment. "I've been ruined throughout my entire journey."

Dana White Career

Career

White encountered Bob Meyrowitz, the owner of Semaphore Entertainment Group, the Ultimate Fighting Championship's parent company, while working as a manager for Ortiz and Liddell. When White learned that Meyrowitz was trying to sell the UFC, he called childhood friend Lorenzo Fertitta (an executive and co-founder of Station Casinos and former Nevada State Athletic Commission chairman) to ask if he was interested in purchasing the company. Lorenzo and his older brother Frank purchased the UFC in January 2001, which later became a Zuffa affiliate. As the company's president, White was named.

When White and the Fertittas purchased the UFC, they got nothing more than the brand name "UFC" and an old octagon. The previous owners had stripped the company's assets to prevent bankruptcy, so much so that the UFC.com website was sold to a company called "User Friendly Computers" by the previous owners. The UFC developed into a very profitable market over time, with White as president, and its gross revenue reached $600 million in 2015. In July 2016, Zuffa was sold to a group of investors led by WME-IMG for $4.025 billion. At the time of the acquisition, White owned 9 percent of the company. White maintained his role as president while also being invested in the new company.

The UFC announced in May 2017 that Dana White's Contender Series would be hosted by White. The show, which is only available through UFC Fight Pass, the promotion's digital subscription service, and separately from the UFC brand, gives up-and-coming fighters the opportunity to showcase their talents in the hopes that one day they will compete in the UFC.

As the UFC entered a new, seven-year contract to remain president of the United States, White agreed to remain president of the United FC on March 18, 2019.

Due to McGregor's service to the NFL, White and McGregor entered the boxing scene. White said he was "getting into boxing, 100%" at Freddie Roach's Wild Card West boxing club in October 2017. In 2019, White said he wanted to bring boxing into the UFC's business portfolio. He has since stalled on these efforts, claiming that boxing promotion is "a shattered industry that is an absolute nightmare to try to fix" in 2022.

Setting up a dramatic moment in front of cameras, Steele leaned forward from the sofa she was sitting on, leaned in to look right into White's eyes, before asking him gently: 'Last question: What's Joe Rogan's dream?'

'Anybody who is with me, has been with me, knows that when you're with me, you're with me,' White said on the Lex Fridman Podcast. 'It's a two-way street, it's not a one-way street. I'm not one of these guys that is just going to roll over.'
