On August 21, he applied for Iranian citizenship, saying that playing for Sweden is an honor and not to represent either country. He was not drafted into Sweden's World Cup qualification squad on August 23, with Janne Andersson choosing expatriate footballers and stating that Ghoddos is not far from a call-up if he were to remain with the Swedish national team.

In an interview, Ghoddos revealed that he obtained his Iranian passport from the embassy on August 25. On his Instagram account the following day, he announced on his Instagram page that he would be attending Iran for their 2018 World Cup qualifiers against South Korea and Syria. Coach Carlos Queiroz called Ghoddos up for the first time for Iran's 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against South Korea and Syria on August 27. On September 27, Ghoddos was unable to make his debut for Iran due to FIFA's administrative issues. OLIVER HOLT: Don't blame Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins for giving it back to a moronic fan who thinks he can abuse a player all game with impunity

www.dailymail.co.uk, December 18, 2023
OLIVER HOLT: Ollie Watkins, one of England's top players this season, took a shot at a corner and guided his header into the net at Brentford's Gtech Community Stadium on Sunday. The goal lifted his Aston Villa team to second place in the Premier League for a brief period of time, and Watkins' momentum carried them to the goal. He stood for a few moments, roaring in glee, his hands on his hips in a defiant, triumphant posture, surrounded by his teammates. Watkins, a former Brentford player, pointed to one of the home supporters at the end, an unrecognizable figure out of the camera picture, and nodded his head before turning away. Saman Ghoddos of Brentford then shoved Watkins, and all hell broke loose.

Brentford 3-0 Burnley: Thomas Frank's men claim second win of the Premier League season with emphatic performance to move six points clear of the relegation zone

www.dailymail.co.uk, October 21, 2023
OLI GAMP AT THE GTECH COMMUNITY STADIUM: Thomas Frank's men were strong here and may have scored five or six points, but you can bet they would have bitten your hand off for the 3-0 win that they ended up with. Before two spectacular long-range performances from Bryan Mbeumo and replacement Saman Ghoddos, they had put them in control before a much-needed confidence booster.

During this international break, Man United's stars will fly almost 100,000 miles, but Nottingham Forest's players will go even further! How far each Premier League squad will travel during this break

www.dailymail.co.uk, September 8, 2023
The first international break of the new season is here, but Premier League players will not be given any time for rest and relaxation as they represent their respective nations. Any English top-flight player is residing in the United Kingdom, and the air miles are racking up for people traveling around the world to compete in international tournaments. When the Premier League returns, players will be able to travel for shorter trips abroad for European Championship qualifiers against Ukraine and Scotland, but others will have to face long-haul flights that could cause wreak havoc on their body clocks.
