Life and career
Sage the Gemini was born in San Francisco, California, on June 20, 1992. When he was 6–7 years old, his family moved to Fairfield, California. After purchasing a microphone from Gordon's Music and Sound shop in Fairfield, California, he began recording with his brother at the age of 11. "Made In China" was the first song he recorded at 14 years old. Sage the Gemini was chosen for his eyes and his zodiac sign.
Sage's first single, "You Should Know," debuted on MySpace in 2008. It became a viral hit, with over three million views worldwide. He then joined Black Money Music Group. In addition to being close friends with rapper Iamsu!, he also joined The HBK Gang, or the Heartbreak Gang.
Sage released the singles "Red Nose" and "Gas Pedal" starring Iamsu! in March 2013, the former's first top-ten hit; it also ranked number six on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, earning it his first top-ten hits. The songs went straight into hit and gained significant airplay, which prompted Republic Records to convince him to sign a deal with him in August 2013. The Recording Industry Association of America has given "Red Nose" Gold and "Gas Pedal" Platinum to the recipients. Sage's debut studio album, Remember Me, was released on March 25, 2014.
