Ryan Sheridan (born 28 January 1982) is an Irish singer, songwriter, and guitarist from County Monaghan.

Early life

Sheridan began playing the fiddle at the age of seven and performed Irish traditional music with Comhaltas for many years. He left Ireland at the age of 16 to appear as a dancer with the Riverdance group. He toured the United States with Riverdance for four years and then spent two years at the Gershwin Theatre on Broadway. Sheridan began writing music and playing guitar while living in New York City, and in 2004, Ryan moved to Glasgow to form the rock band Shiversaint. Artur Graczyk, a Polish percussionist and cajon player who joined the band, returned to Ireland in 2006. Sheridan took a two-year break from music to perform a show in Monaghan, Germany.

On March 23, 2010, Sheridan and Graczyk were discovered in Dublin by their new boss, Brian Whitehead. In Sheridan's guitar lawsuit, Whitehead discovered them playing a cover of Little Lion Man by Mumford and Sons in Grafton Street. Whitehead nominated Sheridan's song Machine for the SupaJam competition to win the opportunity to compete at the Festival Internacional de Benicàssim in Spain. Sheridan defeated the competition by beating out 3,226 others. On July 17, he appeared on the Eastpack FIB Club Stage.

After a preview at The Academy in Dublin, he signed a record with Rubyworks Records, and his first single Jigsaw (produced by Billy Farrell) was released in September 2010. Jigsaw was a huge hit on Irish radio and iTunes. Sheridan's first headline tour around Ireland in December 2010 was in December. He appeared on Other Voices on RTÉ Two television in Ireland. On the 30th of August 2013, two songs from this performance were released on the album Other Voices: Vol. 9, Vol. 3 (Live).

Ryan Sheridan debuted on The Late Late Show on January 21. Sheridan's debut album, The Day You Live Forever, was released in Ireland on May 6, 2011 by the leading Irish independent label Rubyworks, who also licensed the album to Universal Music Germany. Sheridan's continued appearance on the gig circuit, where he appears as a special guest alongside others on The Script, Bryan Adams, and Simply Red as special guests, has earned platinum sales status in Ireland, owing not only to his inherent melodic rock/pop attributes but also to his continued presence on the circuit, where he appeared as a special guest among other things. Sheridan has joined Rea Garvey as a special guest on his European tour.

Sheridan's debut album showed a young and strong Irish talent that will be able to stand up to international scrutiny. He says the best songs are born out of traveling and experiencing different aspects of life, such as stretching the wings a little bit. "Jigsaw," "The Dreamer," and "Stand Up Tall" were among the songs on the album. The album debuted on the Irish Albums Chart and was awarded with gold sales after five weeks. Joe Chester produced it, and Sheridan composed all of the songs on the album. On September 16, 2011, the third single from The Day You Live Forever, "Stand Up Tall" was released.

Sheridan was a featured artist on College Green in May 2011 and is an ambassador for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Ireland.

Sheridan was the first artist to perform both Croke Park and Aviva Stadium at the same time on September 17, 2011. He appeared in two songs during the 2011 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Final in Croke Park, which took place on September 18, 2011.

Sheridan's performance in The Academy on November 5th, 2011 was his best Dublin show to date. Sara Lou and Consumer Love Affair were support acts, with Crowded House bass guitarist Nick Seymour and Tomas Cosinski on guitar as a guest onstage. Graczyk went from playing cajon to drums and bass guitarist Neil Dorrington joined the band halfway through the show.

Ryan released a four-track Christmas EP Walking in the Air on November 25, 2011, with all proceeds from the single's sale to Make-A-Wish Ireland. Ryan visited The Late Late Show on RTÉ Television for the second time on Sunday, and "Walking in the Air" on the evening was number one on the Irish iTunes charts.

On Raw (TV series) season 1, episode 1 of Sheridan's "Take It All Back From The Day You Live Forever" — The Day You Live Forever. The Dreamer, a Heineken producer, provided the soundtrack to a Heineken commercial in January. Nicky Brennan's band formed Ryan Sheridan's band at the start of 2012. As a gaeilge, Ryan appeared on Bernard Dunne's RTÉ Bród Club in March.

At his sold-out performance at the Olympia Theatre in Dublin, Sheridan was presented with a platinum plaque for his debut album, The Day You Live Forever. On July 15th, Sheridan performed his first London appearance at the Hard Rock Calling festival in Hyde Park. Sheridan performed a headline appearance at The Palace Nightclub on Camden Street in Dublin on September 27th as part of the Arthur's Day Celebrations.

Ryan signed a new world record deal with Universal Music Germany on November 1, 2012. He followed this with headline appearances at GiftedLive.com in Galway on November 22nd and Monto Water Rats in London.

Sheridan began 2013 with a busy tour schedule in Germany. He appeared in January and February as a special guest to Rea Garvey, as well as appearances with Silly in May. On the 22nd of February, Sheridan saw the inclusion of his song The Dreamer from his debut album on The Hardy Bucks Movie soundtrack, which was released in Ireland.

On The Late Late Show on Saturday, Sheridan's new look band, now starring Nicky Brennan on guitar, Jimmy Rainsford, and Tanya O'Callaghan on bass, performed their latest single Upside Down. The Day You Live Forever was a German film that was released in Germany on April 26th, with two new songs added to its catalog: Upside Down and Without You. The album debuted on the German iTunes chart for the first week in a row, and as of July 2013, it is now the most highly ranked debut album by an International artist on the Official German charts. On the final show of The Voice of Ireland with winner Keith Hanley on May 28th and his first German television appearance on Sat.1 Frühstücksfernsehen, sheridan performed Jigsaw.

Artur Graczyk, a cajon player, had left the band and would be replaced by Jimmy Rainsford on May 4th. Sean Brennan, a bass player, will join the band in May. On October 7, Sheridan's first headline tour of Germany began in Hamburg. Promoters announced additional dates and moving shows to larger venues in anticipation of multiple primetime TV appearances and radio broadcasts ahead of the live dates. It came to a close on October 29th at The Capitol in Hannover.

Ryan appeared at the Brian O'Driscoll testimonial dinner in Dublin on November 1st. The song Awake by Ryan was included on the album Simple Things for Cycle Against Suicide, which was released on November 15th. Sheridan's good year came to an end with him as the headliner at the New Year's Eve Countdown Concert at College Green in Dublin.

In 2014, the Day You Live Forever Tour continued, beginning at The Capitol in Mannheim on February 15 and ending at The Postbahnhof, Berlin on March 2nd. Sean Brennan, the bass player, had left the band and was replaced by Darren Sweeney. Sheridan and his band appeared in Bahrain as part of the Bahrain International Festival in April, 2014, and they returned to Germany on April 26 to perform with a 75-piece orchestra for 6000 guests at the Pop meets Classic in Braunschweig.

Sheridan's second studio album Here And Now was released in Ireland on August 28th through Rubyworks. The album debuted in the Irish Album Charts as the album defeated The Weeknd to the top position. On August 28th, the Irish leg of the Here And Now Tour began in Dublin at Whelans in Dublin with a sixteen-date tour of Germany, beginning in Hamburg on October 12th.
