Career
In 2004, McKee auditioned for the role of Louise Summers, a fictional actor from Hollyoaks: On the Hunt, a nationwide search for a new actor. McKee began voicing Louise, a role that was introduced by series producer David Hanson in 2005. She was chosen out of over 35,000 applicants.
McKee, an actress who denied that she intended to leave in 2008, speculated at a potential departure for her character. "I'm not going to be here forever," she told Look magazine. I don't mind the long hours, but when my term comes to an end, I'll be doing it for four years." McKee left the show in order to concentrate on other initiatives, mainly theatre, after her tenure ended in October 2008. Many months after McKee's last on-screen appearance, tabloid newspapers began to speculate that she would reprise the role to coincide with Jamie Lomas' death, Warren. "Well, Louise will not be dead," McKee had told Digital Spy, "Well, Louise isn't dead." That's the exciting new twist in the future. On screen, she'll look like she's dead, but if you're looking forward to a March episode, I'm back. I shot an extra scene in which I'm still alive. There are flashbacks that portray me as dead, but there is also a flashback that viewers will not see for a long time, and if you want to return for the episode, it will be used. I'd like to come back and finish Louise's storyline, but at the time, I could be doing something else. It will be really nice, but it will be risky — I'd be back to murder a few people off."
"I have loved my time in Hollyoaks so much and I'm going to really miss everyone at Lime Pictures," McKee said. I've learned so much and will carry with me many happy memories — not only from my time with them but also from Liverpool, which has become my second home. I know I will shed a few tears on the day I leave, but I am so excited about what the future holds. Bryan Kirkwood, a Hollyoaks series producer, expressed sadness about her departure, saying: "As well as being the country's top soap actress for two years running, Roxanne has worked extremely hard to prove herself as a natural actress." She has been at the center of one of our best storylines for the past two years, and her exit scenes will be a fitting culmination. Roxanne is a natural actress in the making, and I'm positive this will not be the last time we hear of her." McKee received the award of 'Most Female' at The British Soap Awards in 2007, 2008 and 2009, an award she had been nominated for in 2006 and 2009. McKee was also named "Most Female" at the Inside Soap Awards in 2007 and 2008. She was also nominated for the 'Best Actress' in 2008.
"It's no surprise" that sultry Roxanne McKee was voted the sexiest soap star at the British Soap Awards, according to Virgin Media. She's so foxy that even on-screen fiancé Warren was upset he had to finish her off."
McKee appeared in the Taio Cruz music video for "She's Like a Star" in 2008. McKee filmed scenes in Johannes Roberts' hooligan horror film F and BBC Two's The Persuasionists the following year.
McKee, the Clothes Show Live star, said, "I've always watched it on TV and want to go," so I'm extremely sad to be a part of such a huge event." In 2010, she appeared in a small part of On-Line Drama EastEnders: E20, portraying bisexual character Pippa.
McKee appeared in the BBC Three set in Glasgow, McKee's daughter Doreah would appear in Game of Thrones, an HBO series based on George RR Martin's best-selling epic fantasy series of novels.
McKee was confirmed as a member of the horror film Wrong Turn 5: Bloodlines in May 2012.
