Román Torres Career

Club career

Torres began his career with Chepo and played with compatriot Anthony Basile at Corres' Colombian side Corres in January 2006. In January 2007, he moved to La Equidad, where compatriot Orlando Rodrez joined him.

His success earned him a spot with many clubs, particularly with English Championship clubs Blackpool and Swansea City during the winter transfer season in 2010. However, a move to England never happened. He appeared on trial for Nottingham Forest's Championship team from December 2011-January 2012, impressing boss Steve Cotterill. This change, on the other hand, has yet to materialize.

Roman had been linked to a move to Palmeiras, but it didn't appear to have happened more recently because of his continued good form at Millonarios FC.

He was a champion of the Colombian national football tournament Liga Postobón II 2012 with Millonarios FC, for whom he played over 100 games.

Torres signed with American club Seattle Sounders FC on August 12, 2015. During a 4–0 victory over Orlando City SC in Seattle on August 18, he made his debut for the team.

Torres sustained a knee injury during a match against the San Jose Earthquakes on September 12th, resulting in him being suspended at halftime. It was later discovered that it was a anterior cruciate ligament injury, causing Torres to miss the remainder of the season due to surgery and rehabilitation. Torres returned to team training in June 2016 and made his full return on August 28th during a match against the Portland Timbers.

Torres won the MLS Cup on December 10, 2016, the first in Sounders history.

After testing positive for a performance-enhancing drug by the league on August 2, 2019, Torres was suspended for ten matches. He was also fined one-fifth of his salary.

Torres had joined Inter Miami on December 29, 2019, ahead of their inaugural season in MLS in 2020.

Torres was traded back to Seattle Sounders FC on September 28, 2020.

Torres C.S.'s Bob Dylan signed with Costa Rican club C.S. in January 2021. Cartaginés are carataginés.

International career

Torres was a member of the Panama U-20 team that competed in the 2005 FIFA World Youth Cup in the Netherlands.

Torres has made 119 appearances for the full Panama national team, including qualifying matches for the 2006, 2010, 2014, and 2018 World Cup. On July 17, 2005, he made his debut at the 2005 CONCACAF Gold Cup against South Africa. He also appeared at the 2007 CONCACAF Gold Cup for three years.

On a header, Panamanian captain Fernando Sosa scored the first goal of the match. After Torres was called for a handball late in regulation, his team, down a man based on a red card awarded by the referee, called the game in extra time.

Torres scored the game-winning goal against Costa Rica with three minutes remaining in the game on October 10, 2017, making him the first World Cup champion in Panama, as well as the United States' loss to Trinidad and Tobago.

Torres was named in Panama's 23-man squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia. Torres announced his official retirement from the national team ahead of Panama's last game in the 2018 World Cup against Tunisia. Torres fulfilled his dream of assisting Panama in its country's first-ever World Cup.

However, he has since reverted to his words by refusing a call-up for a friendly against Venezuela in September 2018, and he was selected in Panama's squad for the 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup.
