Raviv "Ricky" Ullman (born January 24, 1986) is an Israeli-American actor, producer, and musician.

He is best known for his role in Phil Diffy, the main character in the Disney Channel series Phil of the Future.

Early life

Ullman was born in Eilat, Israel, to American Jewish parents Laura Ullman (née Ehrenkranz), a tutor, and Brian Ullman, a printer. Tali and Nadav, respectively, have a younger sister and a younger brother. His family left Israel after his first birthday for Norwalk, Connecticut, the United States, and then to Fairfield, Connecticut, Connecticut, the following year. His father used to be a clown when Ullman was a kid. When he was at summer camp, he played Peter Pan, which made him discover his talents in acting, singing, dancing, and reading drama books.

Ullman was raised in Judaism's Conservative and Orthodox faiths. Joseph Ehrenkranz, his maternal grandfather, was an Orthodox rabbi in Stamford, Connecticut. Ullman is Connecticut Senator Joe Lieberman's first cousin, who was twice removed. Both the Lieberman's mother and Ullman's matrilineal grandmother were sisters.

Ullman learned how to play the trombone by himself. In March 2002, Ullman was selected as the "outstanding ambassador" of Connecticut's Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Foundation (HOBY) youth leadership program, allowing him to attend the HOBY World Leadership Congress in the summer of 2002. He attended Hillel Academy and is a graduate of Fairfield Warde High School. He was involved in the National Conference of Synagogue Youth.

Personal life

Ullman is a speaker who speaks fluent Hebrew and keeps a kosher kitchen. Ullman is an environmentalist and has dubbed himself "a fourth generation protester." He works with TAP (Teens AIDS Prevention).

Ullman lived in Brooklyn, New York, until 2020, before relocating to Los Angeles, California.

Louis Ullman's first professional work was with The King and I, as well as Jesse McCartney. Peter Pan was also a member of the Polka Dot Playhouse, The Music Man, The New England Repertory Company, and Just People at the Long Wharf Theatre, among other performances he worked on. In Stanley in Stamford Theater Work's A Rosen by Any Other Name, he received a 1998–1999 Best Actor nomination from the Connecticut Critics' Awards for his character Stanley. He appeared in film and television series, most prominently portraying Christopher Knight in the 2000 film Growing Up Brady.

On Disney Channel's Phil Diffy, a teen from the year 2121, a series that premiered in June 2004, Ullman is best known for his role as Phil Diffy, a teen from the year 2121. In Disney's made-for-television film Pixel Perfect, he also appeared as Roscoe. During this period, Ullman appeared in other Disney Channel shows, including a guest appearance on That's So Raven, and as an identifiable member of the Disney Channel Circle of Stars, as well as playing the drums.

Sam was played by Ullman in ABC Family's television film Searching for David's Heart in 2004. He appeared in a number of independent films, including The Big Bad Swim and Driftwood (2006), Normal Adolescent Behaviour (2007), and Prom Wars (2008). During this time, he appeared in television shows such as Big Love and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

In the Lifetime sitcom Rita Rocks, which premiered in 2009, Ullman was cast as Kip. His role was as the drummer in the titular character's band and her daughter's boyfriend. After two seasons, the show was cancelled.

Although Ullman used the stage name Ricky before, he began using his real name in 2006 when he appeared on an episode of House and then continued to use Raviv on all projects since.

Ullman and a few of his followers produced parody hip-hop music videos under the name Webee Boys in June 2006. Ullman met actor Douglas Smith of Big Love fame in December 2006 and together they formed Goodbye Ian, a tribute band. The organization grew to as many as seven people and later changed its name to His Orchestra. Ullman's band, Field Guide to the Wilds, premiered on February 24, 2009, performs drums and glockenspiel.

Ullman had small roles in short films, television, and film in 2009, but he began focusing on theater acting, appearing in Off-Broadway and regional theater productions after completing Rita Rocks in 2009.

In the New York production of Russian Transport Off-Broadway from January 2012 to March 24, 2012, Ullman starred as Alex. It was announced on Friday that Ullman had joined the cast of Alena Smith's latest Off-Broadway play The Bad Guys. On the Upper West Side in New York City, it debuted on May 22nd at the McGinn/Cazale Theater. In the first revival of Sticks and Bones in 2014, Ullman performed opposite Holly Hunter and Richard Chamberlain. Sticks and Bones opened in November 2014 and closed on December 14th.

In the 2017 charity play Right Before I Go at The Town Hall, Ullman appeared in the Right Before You Go.

In 2018, Ullman appeared in Ming Peiffer's much-lauded production of Usual Girls.

Ullman is a natural performer and plays drums and guitar. He has performed as a touring musician, most notably with Soko on her 2012 tour. Ullman was a member of Reputante, a band that made their 2013 debut on Julian Casablancas' record label Cult Records. He left the band about a year ago in 2015. Ullman, a Reputante member, and Jimmy Giannopoulos, helped form the band Lolawolf with actress Zo Kravitz. On February 4, they unveiled their self-titled debut EP. He left Lolawolf before the release of their first full-length film, Calm Down, in October 2014.

Ullman unveiled his project Standing Ground, a documentary that delves into the Standing Rock Sioux Nation, the North Dakota Access Pipeline, and the fossil fuel industry. The film's production took place throughout 2017.

In addition, Ullman produces music videos.

The Study, co-founded by Ullman and Rabbi Adam Greenwald, is a podcast that explores, explores, and applying the Torah. The trailer was released in late September 2020 and the first episode was released on October 2, 2020.
