Rick Warren Life

Richard Duane Warren (born January 28, 1954) is an American evangelical Christian pastor and author.

He is the founder and senior pastor of Saddleback Church, an evangelical megachurch in Lake Forest, California, which is the sixth-largest megachurch in the United States (including multi-site churches).

He is also a best-selling author of many Christian books, including his book on church leadership and evangelism, which has spawned a number of conferences on Christian ministry and evangelism.

Warren Buffett's sequel, The Purpose Driven Life, has sold more than 30 million copies, making him a New York Times bestseller and a New York Times bestselling author on social topics such as abortion, same-sex marriage, abstinence-only education over the use of condoms to prevent HIV/AIDS, and embryonic stem-cell research. Warren hosted the Civil Forum on the Presidency at his church with both presidential candidates, John McCain and Barack Obama, during the 2008 US presidential election.

When Obama begged Warren to invov the invocation at the presidential inauguration in January 2009, he caused controversies later.

Early life and education

Warren was born in San Jose, California, the son of Jimmy and Dot Warren. His father, a Baptist minister, was a high school librarian, and his mother, a high-school librarian. He was born in Ukiah, California, and graduated from Ukiah High School in 1972, where he founded the first Christian club on the school's campus.

Warren received a Bachelor of Arts degree from California Baptist University in Riverside, California; a Master of Divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (1979) in Fort Worth, Texas; and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California.

Personal life

Warren has been married to Kay Warren since June 21, 1975. They have three adult children and four grandchildren. Billy Graham, Peter Drucker, and his own father are among his mentors, according to him.

He claimed to have made the decision to "reverse the tithe" in 2006, donating 90% of his income to three charities and no longer receive a salary from the church after his book "The Purpose Driven Life" was a success.

Matthew, Warren's youngest son, died on April 6, 2013, after ten years of suffering from mental illness. More than 10,000 people wrote to Warren about their struggles with mental illness in the church after the suicide, according to Warren. Warren began a program to educate the church on how to assist people suffering from mental illness around the year. The Gathering on Mental Health and the Church opened in March 2014.

Southern Baptists refuse to allow California megachurch - led by famous pastor Rick Warren - back in

www.dailymail.co.uk, June 14, 2023
Saddleback Church had appealed the decision in February to oust churches for having women in charge. However, this was overwhelmingly rejected at the Southern Baptist church annual meeting on Tuesday by 9,437 votes to 1,212. Fern Creek Baptist of Louisville, Kentucky, which is led by a woman pastor, was also rejected. The results were revealed in front of the packed convention hall on Wednesday and then greeted with silence after SBC President Bart Barber asked people to demonstrate patience.

Southern Baptists will elect a ban on women from pastoral positions

www.dailymail.co.uk, June 14, 2023
After several churches were refused for having female leaders, Southern Baptists will determine whether or not to prohibit women from becoming pastors this week. At this week's Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) in New Orleans, a plan will be presented to 12,000 voters that would outlaw women in positions of authority. The SBC Executive Committee, which includes 30 workers and 86 elected members, accepted the vote but has officially recommended a'messenger's' opposition.
