Early life
In 1993, Raechelle Banno was born in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. She is one of three children born to Joanne Banno; her older sister Stephanie Banno works in public relations and communications; and her identical twin sister Karina Banno is an actress. Fairfield West Public School and Fairvale High School, where she graduated in 2010 during her primary education, were among her classes.
Career
Following the completion of FATD Jazz and Tap exams and most of her RAD ballet exams until her Intermediate class, Banno began her career as a dancer at the age of three, and in later years she taught ballet and contemporary dance to 9-12 year olds. She went on to become an actress and model from the age of nine, appearing for British Boden's affiliate Mini Boden, King Cow, Little Romeo, Barbie, and Total Girl magazine.
When Raechelle and her sister, Karina, decided to pursue acting careers, they sought out a family friend who was a casting director for assistance. Banno's acting career began in 2002 after taking classes at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA). She began appearing in commercials for McDonald's and Vodafone, then jumped into television, debuting in an episode of the 7Two children's drama series In Your Dreams. Banno appeared in short films in 2016, including Second Best and Phenomena. She also wrote and produced the short film Exposure, which was also directed by her sister, Karina.
In 2015, it was revealed that Banno had joined the cast of Seven Network soap opera Home and Away, in which she would play Olivia Fraser Richards, Chloe Richards' daughter. Since her inception in 1998, Ivy Latimer, who played the role in 2005, the role has been portrayed by many actresses, including Ivy Latimer, who played the character in 2005. In episode 6313, Banno made her first appearance during the 28th season of the series. Olivia had been reducing herself as a result of being sexually assaulted by her uncle's cousin as a child, according to one of her character's early storylines. It was announced in May 2018 that Banno had left Home and Away.
Banno performed three characters in ABC ME's animated series 100% Wolf: Legend of the Moonstone, after wrapping on Home and Away. As Atria Nine, she also appeared in The CW's sci-fi action series Pandora. Banno and her sister Karina co-directed Case Unsolved, a short film that was part of the Sydney Underground Film Festival's Take 48 lineup in 2020. Both the sisters and George Maher were also one of eight finalists for their project Blackheath in the 2020 AACTA and Monster Pictures pitch competition.
In four television films based on V. C. Andrews' Landry books for Lifetime, Banno will appear Ruby Landry. Ruby, Pearl in the Mist, All That Glitters, and Hidden Jewel will be broadcast on two weekends starting from 20 March 2021. In the adaptations, Banno's sister Karina will also appear.
