Early life
Madden grew up around Redfern, a Sydney inner city suburb, and attended Rose Bay Secondary College. Madden's daughter, Lee Madden, grew up in a liberal family; she is the granddaughter of activist and soccer player Charles Perkins; and the niece of writer and broadcaster Hetti Perkins. Rachel Perkins, her aunt, is a director. Miah Madden, an actress, has two older sisters and two younger half-sisters. In a car accident in 2003, their father died.
Career
Madden was the first teenager in Australia to give a national address in 2010 when she gave a two-minute address on Indigenous Australians' future. Any free-to-air television network in Australia had it broadcast to 6 million viewers.
