Paul Joseph Arriola (born February 5, 1995) is an American soccer player who competes for Major League Soccer club D.C. United and the United States national team.
Early life
Arriola was born in Chula Vista, California, a San Diego suburb, to Dawn and Art Arriola. Arriola attended Mater Dei Catholic High School in Chula Vista and the iHigh Virtual Academy in San Diego. Arriola was born in Mexico and obtained his Mexican passport through his grand grandparents who were born there.

Club career
Arriola spent years with United States Soccer Development Academy (AE) in Temecula, California, a club that has produced many top players, including Carlos Bocanegra and Hector Jiménez, before joining the Los Angeles Galaxy academy in 2013.
Arriola was admitted to train with Tijuana in December 2012 after having previously trialed with the club. Following the 2012 season, and despite being offered a lucrative deal by the Galaxy, Arriola signed for Club Tijuana of Liga MX, Mexico's highest level of soccer. Arriola was one of a number of American-born players to join the Xolos, including Edgar Castillo, Herculez Gomez, Joe Corona, and Greg Garza. Tijuana's proximity to Arriola's hometown of San Diego, 18 miles away, was one factor in his decision to go for Tijuana over the Galaxy. Arriola has been a member of the United States youth national team and was part of the 2011 CONCACAF U-17 Championship squad, but she did not participate in any games due to a injury. In 2013, Arriola joined the US U18 squad for a trip to Europe for friendlies against France and Uruquay. Arriola was a member of the United States U20 squad in the 2014 Dallas Cup and the 2014 NTC Invitational.
