Nuseir Yassin (born 9 February 1992) is a video blogger who made 1000 daily 1-minute videos on Facebook under the name Nas Daily.
He identifies himself as a Palestinian-Israeli.
He has since worked at Nas Daily Corporation, a video production company that broadcasts a single weekly video every Friday.
Early life and career
Yassin was born in Arraba, Israel, to an Arab Muslim family of Palestinian descent. Yassin, a Palestinian Arab with Israeli citizenship, describes himself as a "Palestinian Israeli." He is the second of four children; his mother is a nanny, and his father is a psychologist. Yassin's native language is Palestinian Arabic; he also speaks English and non-fluent Hebrew. Despite being raised as a Muslim, he has since mainly stopped practicing Islam and has proclaimed himself as a "non-religious Muslim."
At the age of 19, Yassin applied for a degree in aerospace engineering and was given a scholarship. His admission essay delved into his struggle to fulfil his aspirations as an ethnic Arab born in Israel. In 2014, he earned a degree in economics and a minor in computer science. While earning his degree, Yassin co-founded a pay-it-forward registration service and a social media search engine.
In September 2014, he began working as a software programmer for Venmo, a PayPal-owned mobile payment center, in New York.
Yassin resigned from Venmo in 2016 and began to travel the world with the intention of chronicling his travels and experiences on camera. This resulted in the creation of Nas Daily, which was romanized as Al-N's, lit. 'People'' (people), where he'll create and broadcast a one-minute video every day for 1,000 days. After meeting Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg in early 2018, Nas Daily was promoted to "show" status, and by September 2018, his website had more than 8 million followers. This number had risen to over ten million by November of the same year.
All of Yassin's one-minute daily videos are posted on Facebook. In 2017, Yassin said that he did not post the videos to YouTube for a variety of reasons, including his friends' inability to be present on the website.
He started posting old videos of him on his official YouTube channel, Nas Daily Official in 2019. The videos were shot with an attached camera and then edited and released the next day. On average, each video takes about six hours to shoot and three hours to edit. Yassin's video were based on Facebook ideas from the start. Each video ended with the tagline: "That's one minute, see you tomorrow."
Alyne Tamir, an American Israeli video-maker of Mormon and Jewish origins, and Agon Hare, a Polish video blogger and singer, are among Yassin's collaborators.
Subtitles are available in various languages, including Urdu, Turkish, Thailand, Indonesian, Japanese, Chinese, and Arabic, due to the success of the videos among non-English-speaking audiences.
On January 5, 2019, Yassin completed his 1000-day video journey, with the tagline "That's one minute, see you soon." He began making one video per week starting on February 1, 2019, the first week of 2021.
He used to live in Singapore but now lives in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. [1] Around the World in 60 Seconds: The Nas Daily Journey was released on November 5, 2019.
Yassin created Nas Academy, a video maker's academy, and Nas Studios, a video production company, in 2020. He also created a line of podcasts.
After the artist's grandniece said that Whang-Od had never signed any deal with Nas Academy in 2021, the academy withdrew a training course by Filipino Kalinga tattoo artist Whang-Od. Yassin posted a video on social media showing Whang-od affixing her thumbprint to a piece of paper as proof of the tattoo artist's permission. The National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) reported that posting a job on social media does not equate to evidence of compliance. Since being informed, the NCIP has conducted a review, on-site validation, and interview to determine the contract's legitimacy and whether there was informed consent. In a customary process and meeting arranged by the NCIP, the issue was resolved on October 24, 2021, after Nas Academy Philippines representatives officially apologized to Whang-Od, the elders, and members of the community. The Nas Academy's legal team confirmed the community's request to declare the deal null and void.
